HYDRAULIC CALCULATION PERTAINING TO PUMP FOR HOSE REEL SYSTEM:

PROJECT:

BOMBA: JPBM: KD/005/3/1/29/03

Design Notes:

a) Pump location: NIL (TAPPED FROM PRESSURIZED HYDRANT PUMP)

b) Minimum pumping flow rate: 2.27 L/S
c) Minimum effective head required at highest nozzle is 20.42 Meter Head
d) PRV setting value 2.27 L/S @ 25.58 Meter Head
e) Total number of hose reel = 3 Nos

1. Head loss through linear length of pipe:

For 54.00 meter length 50 mm dia. The total head loss is 1.99 Meter Head

For 5.00 meter length 25 mm dia. The total head loss is 5.53 Meter Head

Total head loss through linear length of pipe 1.99 Meter Head

2. Head loss through bends:

For 7.00 nos. bends, the equipment length of pipe is 10.22 meter

Hence head loss is 0.38 Meter Head

3. Head loss through tees:

For 7.00 nos. tees, the equipment length of pipe is 20.37 meter

Hence head loss is 0.75 Meter Head

4. Head loss through valves:

For 4.00 nos. valves, the equipment length of pipe is 1.52 meter

Hence head loss is 0.06 Meter Head

5. Head loss through hose reel tubing:

For 30 length of 25 mm diameter of NON-KINK SINGLE BRAIDED hose, the head loss is
1.52 meter head

6. Head loss through vertical rise piping:

Height of the highest hose reel is 0.00 meter

Hence head loss is 0.00 Meter Head
7. Summary of total head loss:

a) Head loss through piping 1.99 Meter Head

b) Head loss through bends 0.38 Meter Head
c) Head loss through tees 0.75 Meter Head
d) Head loss through valves 0.06 Meter Head
e) Head loss through hose reel tubing 1.524 Meter Head
f) Head loss through vertical rise piping 0.00 Meter Head
g) Safety factor (10%) 0.47 Meter Head
h) Total head loss 5.16 Meter Head

Therefore, PRV setting valve 25.58 Meter Head
