IRTA State Convention Unit Honorees

At the IRTA State Convention, units may select a honoree from their unit
that has provided exceptional service to their local unit and IRTA.

Jean Whipple was the 2023 IRTA State Convention Ogle-Lee Unit Honoree.
Jean was recognized for her service to our organization as past president,
membership chair, and "to be elected" co-president. Jean's picture and name
will be part of a powerpoint presentation at the IRTA State Conference in
October 2023 recognizing honorees from units across the state.

Keith Erhart was the 2015 IRTA State Convention Ogle-Lee Unit Honoree.
Keith was recognized for his years of serving as our Legislative Representative.
He also represents Area 1 at the Legislative Meetings held in Springfield. Keith's
knowledge of political issues and their implication for retired educators earned
him the respect of area political leaders and IRTA.

Jerry Wine was the 2013 IRTA State Convention Ogle-Lee Unit Honoree.
Jerry was selected for his many years of active service to the Ogle-Lee Unit
including serving as Auditing Chairperson, member of the Ogle-Lee Executive
Committee, and collecting luncheon fees at membership meetings. His
attendance at board meetings and his sense of humor is much appreciated by the
Ogle-Lee Executive Board. IRTA honored him with a Certificate of
Appreciation, an IRTA tote bag, and an IRTA throw blanket.

Richard Wood was the 2011 IRTA Unit Honoree for the Ogle-Lee Unit.
He was recognized for his many years of serving as membership chairperson,
database manager, yearbook editor, and newsletter editor.

Loretta Bell was the 2009 IRTA Unit Honoree for the Ogle- Lee Unit.
She was selected for her many years of serving as President of the local
unit and her tireless efforts to build a strong local and increase
membership. Loretta also served as Historian for many years. She will be
remembered for her yearly Memorial Service honoring deceased
members.

Margaret Knight was the 2007 IRTA Unit Honoree for the Ogle-Lee Unit.
She was selected in appreciation of her many years of service to the local
unit including serving as President, Historian, Necrology Chairperson, and
chairperson of the Ogle-Lee RTA Constitution and By-laws Committee.
