4A’S LESSON PLAN

MATH- Grade 2

MELC: IDENTIFIES OTHER FRACTIONS LESS THAN ONE WITH DENOMINATORS 10 AND BELOW.

Objective:

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

a. Identify other fractions less than one with denominators 10 and below.
b. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in visualizing and identifying unit fractions with denominators
10 and below.
c. Visualizes, represents and identifies unit fractions with denominators 10 and below.

Preliminary Activities:

 Opening Prayer

 Observe Cleanliness

 Checking of Attendance

 Review: The concept of fractions and their parts (numerator and denominator).
Review how to read and write fractions.

Subject Matter:

Topic:

Reference: M2NS-IIIe-79.1

Materials: Laptop, TV Monitor.

Motivation:

Show pictures of different objects or shapes divided into equal parts.

Ask the students to identify the fraction represented by each part.

Activity:

Divide the students into pairs or small groups.

Provide each group with a set of fraction cards (with fractions less than one and denominators 10 and
below).
Instruct the groups to take turns picking a card and identifying the fraction shown.
They should also write the fraction in numeric form and draw a picture representation of it.
After each turn, the group should explain their answer to the class.
Analysis:

Discuss the different fractions identified by the groups.

Ask questions to deepen their understanding, such as:
How did you identify the fraction?
Can you give another example of a fraction with the same numerator or denominator?
How would you compare two fractions with different denominators?

Abstraction:

Introduce the concept of equivalent fractions.

Explain how fractions with different denominators can represent the same value.
Provide examples of equivalent fractions and ask the students to identify them.

Application:

Give the students a real-life problem related to fractions.

For example, present a scenario where they need to share a pizza among a certain number of people.
Ask the students to determine the fraction of the pizza each person will get using fractions with
denominators 10 and below.

Assessment:

Let the students answer this five questions related to identifying fractions less than one with
denominators 10 and below. They may write their answer on their notebooks.
1. What is the fraction represented by the shaded part in the figure below? (Provide a visual
representation)
2. Write the fraction in numeric form: three out of ten.
3. True or False: A fraction with a smaller denominator represents a larger part of a whole.
4. Fill in the blank: The fraction __/10 is equivalent to 3/5.
5. Which fraction is greater: 4/8 or 2/5?
Answers:
1.2/10
2. 3/10
3. False
4. 6
5. 4/8

Assignment:

Assign the students to create a poster showing different fractions less than one with denominators 10
and below.
They should include the fraction in numeric form, a picture representation, and a real-life example of
where that fraction can be found.
