DETAILED SERMON OUTLINE:

OBEDIENCE TO THE CALL

GENESIS 22: 1-3, Genesis 22:15-18

 After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 He
said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him
there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in
the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he
cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16 and said, “I swear by
myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only
son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as
the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and
through your offspring  all nations on earth will be blessed,  because you have obeyed me.”

INTRODUCTION: Have you ever heard your phone ringing? If your phone ringed you
must answer at once maybe this call is very important or an emergency or it is a good
news. If your phone rang we must act at once so that we will not missed that call. Just
like Abraham. Abraham responded at once and act because he knows the voice of the
Lord when He calls.

We will learn from this book about obedience to the call of the Lord.

1. IDENTIFY THE VOICE OF THE LORD WHEN HE CALL

a. Attentive Genesis 22:1

2. LISTENING SIGNIFICANT VOICE OF THE LORD

a. Trust- Genesis 22:2 He put his trust to the Lord that God will provide
b. Faith –Abraham had faith that God will provide everything.

3. OBEYING THE COMMAND

a. Go –Genesis 22:2 in the Land of Moriah
 b. Offer & Sacrifice - Genesis 22:2 Taking His Son Isaac and Offer him as a
burnt offering
c. Obedience- Genesis 22:3 He went to the land what the Lord told him

4. FAVOR TO THOSE WHO OBEYED THE CALL OF THE LORD

Reward In Genesis 22: 15-19 the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham from
heaven a second time and renewed the (physical) blessings God promised to
Abraham before. Abraham asked God only for a son. But God saw that Abraham
was obedient and rewarded him with an entire nation.

Conclusion:

We must be on guard and vigilant knowing the voice of the Lord when He call, Have
faith and obey because obedient is better than sacrifice. Obey the call of the Lord with
trust and faith because the Lord will not put us to shame he will honour us and because
He loves us he will provide all we need in this Life. Let continue trusting God because He
will give the crown of our effort. How he modeled listening for God, responding in
faith, and “obediently” going where he believed God was leading him. We believe
that we, all of us, have followed a similar sequence and that God has blessed our
faith and obedience with provision beyond our imaginations.

“If God calls you to it, God will get you through it.”

Which phase of the divine test are you in today? sacrificing your Isaac. Whichever the
phase of the divine test you are in today it’s my sincere hope and prayer that you will
make it through the test and prove your faithfulness unto the Lord.
