Chapter 1 Introduction
Handheld thermal cameras is an ideal solution which provides accurate non-touch temperature
measurement and heat distribution image display for electrical predictive maintenance, building
inspection, HVAC inspection, manufacturing monitor, etc. HIKMICRO’s handheld thermal cameras
have been used widely in detecting temperature anomalies before detecting radiator efficiency for
HVAC inspection, searching for heat loss in buildings, finding hot spots and invisible defects on
mechanical or electrical systems that could indicate a potential problem. They are also used for
surveying areas that are hard to reach with conventional measurement tools.
This document introduces new features and optimizations in V5.5.27 of G series cameras.

Chapter 2 New Features

2.1 Inpsect Point Check-In and Auto Diagnosis for Route

Inspection
In certain situations that require temperature check for many inspect points, users can use the
HIKMICRO Inspector to create inspection routes that cover all the points, and send a route inspection
task to your G series device for temperature check. After the device examines the inspect points, it
uploads the results to the HIKMICRO Inspector. Users can further analyze the results in HIKMICRO
Analyzer.

To make sure that inspection personnel checks the correct pre-defined inspect point, inspect point
check-in is supported in this version. With an inspect-point-specific QR code (pre-generated in
HIKMICRO Inspector) attached to an inspect point, inspection personnel starts temperature
measurement by scanning the QR code to check-in.
For some inspect points that have clear defective temperature rules, the automatic diagnosis and
result marking are supported in this version. The function helps accelerate the inspection tours and
increase checking accuracy in certain circumstances.
See the user manuals of G series product (V5.5.27) and HIKMICRO Inspector (embedded in the client)
for detailed operation instructions.

2.1.1 Inspect Point Check-In

To use the check-in function, an inspect point should be first defined with a specific QR code in
HIKMICRO Inspector, and then sent to the devices. On the part of device, when checking this point, it
enables its optical channel automatically to scan the code attached around the point and complete
the check-in action.
When creating an inspect point (in HIKMICRO Inspector), users should set its Check-In Type as
Required and enter point description to generate a QR code. Then, download the QR code, print it
out and attach it around the point for scanning and recognition.

HIKMICRO Inspector-Creating a Check-In Required Inspect Point

When the device receives an inspection task, users can browse the inspect points and their check-in
type from under Inspection Route Mode .

When turning to a check-in required point, the device switches to the optical channel for QR code
scanning. After QR code recognition, it turns to the thermal channel for temperature measurement
and image capture.

2.1.2 Inspect Point Auto Diagnosis

When creating an inspect point (in HIKMICRO Inspector), users have option to enable Auto Diagnosis,
and set target parameters and diagnostic standards.

During an inspection tour, when the device switches to an Auto Diagnosis-enabled point and
captures a target image, the target status is automatically marked according to the configured
parameters and diagnostic standards. Manual status change is not allowed on device.

2.2 Area Size Calculation Tool

The device is capable of calculating are size with the help of laser metering in this version. Enable the
function from Settings > Device Settings > Area Size Calculation.
Draw a temperature measurement frame, and aim the frame to the target. Press the laser button to
measure target distance. The device calculates the frame size based on the distance and displays the
result over the frame.

2.3 Touch to Select Focus Area in Autofocus

Autofocus of this version allows users to select target focus area. In autofocus mode, touch a screen
area as the focus area, and the device perform one autofocus accordingly.
Triggering autofocus by pressing the focusing trigger is also supported, and the focusing area is the
screen center.

2.4 Radiometric Video Recording and Analysis

Users can select video type for recording in this version. New radiometric videos have device and
temperature measurement data attached, which can be read and analyzed by HIKMICRO Analyzer.
Video Type Description
Radiometric videos, Radiometric videos clips are not supported playing on the device.
format .rv To display these videos, you should export the videos to HIKMICRO
Analyzer for display and analysis.
MP4 videos, format .mp4 MP4 videos can be played on local device, or exported to and
played by any other supported players.
Note that MP4 videos can not be played by HIKMICRO Analyzer

Enable Radiometric Video from Settings > Capture Settings > Video Type before start recording. In
the live view interface, hold the main trigger to start recording.
The recording signs for radiometric video and MP4 videos are different. When you see ,
it is recording a MP4 video. When you see , it is recording a radiometric video.

2.5 Alarm Capture Available

Alarm capture is a function to automatically save the images when alarming temperatures are
detected.
Enable Alarm Capture from Settings > Thermography Settings > Alarm Settings and set the Min.
Alarm Interval. When target temperature exceeds the set alarm threshold, the detected alarming
temperature turns red and keeps flashing, and the image is also saved in the memory card.
