Introduction
Loadometer sites provide a pulloff
adjacent to the highway, on which
trucks can be weighed or vehicles in
general can be inspected by the
Highway Transport Patrol. 4a
To assist the Traffic Officer in
directing vehicles to the sites,
Loadometer Site signs will be installed
in advance of all sites.
5.
Sign Design
Loadometer sites are used periodically.
The Loadometer Site sign is
constructed in such a manner that when
the site is not in use, a safety message
is displayed. When the site is in use,
the sign can be changed to read,
"VEHICLE INSPECTION AHEAD
BE PREPARED TO STOP".

Location
The Loadometer Site sign will normally
be located approximately 200 m in
advance of the site.
Installation
Installation will be to highway
standards, offset 2 to 4.5 m from the
edge of the shoulder and 1.5 to 2.5 m
above the road surface.
Responsibility
5.1 The Department of Highways and
Transportation will be responsible
for sign design, ordering, location,
installation, maintenance,
replacement and all related costs.
The Highway Transport Patrol
Officer will be responsible for
ensuring that the appropriate sign
message is displayed.
