1. What are the Problem/s of the case?

a. Lack of consideration from the management – From the very beginning of the story, this was
the most visible problem. The management knew that its employees cannot do the tasks that
they were asking, but they still pushed through with their plans. They did not consider their
employees’ capacity before implementing new work assignments. I think the management
did this for the money, they were thinking of earning more without properly securing the
training their employees need in order to be ready for the new work assignments.

b. Lack of training – I believe that in every establishment, continuous training is a must.

Trainings are not “once and done”, they should be in an ongoing basis especially in
hospitality management. The hospitality industry is a never ending process where there are
different customer’s needs. In the story, the management clearly knew that their employees
are not ready for the new assignment especially without the proper training but they insisted
in pushing through their plans. That is why, it cost their employees to lose productivity rate
and even the quality of their product has been affected,

c. Lack of accountability – Since the employees were not properly trained for the new work
assignments, their productivity and work quality have been greatly affected. But the
management still chose to blamed them, where in the first place, it wasn’t really their fault.
The management doesn’t want to be accountable for the weak response that they have been
receiving.

2. What are the Courses of actions should be taken?

a. Lack of consideration from the management – I truly believe that the success of any
establishment lies behind its employees. If the management took good care of their
employees, they will not be facing any problem. They should have become more considerate.
Try to understand their employees comments and suggestions.

b. Lack of training – the management should make sure that the employees are properly trained
before asking them to do something new.

c. Lack of accountability – If you are assigned as a decision maker, you should be firm in every
decision that you make. You have to make sure you are doing the right thing without
compromising the safety of your people.

3. What would be your best Solution?

Working in the hospitality industry means working with never-ending demands. The industry
needs to cope with every changes and demands of its customer. So, I think the best thing to
do is to make sure that the management is not the only group that is ready, but also its
employees – up to the lowest rank. The most important part of any establishment is its
people. Make sure that the people working are always in their best shape, and make sure that
they are trained well so that they will be ready to face any problem that may come their way.
Providing training will also help increase the productivity rate of the company and it will
guarantee that the quality of any product is not compromised.

4. How will you implement it?

If I am the decision maker of the company, I will always side with the people, I will help the
people voice out their opinions so that the management can hear them.

I will provide continuous trainings for my staff for them to be knowledgeable on what they
do. This will not only help the business but it will also help the people working to be really
confident with their job.

I will make sure that I also listen to their comments and suggestions, since they are working
first hand with the customers, they may have observations that may lead to making the
business greater.

I will also be schedule meetings (it can be weekly or monthly) so that I can make sure that
everything is going well.
