are 24cm and 12cm respectively?
17. Find the perimeter of a square whose side is 24m.
18. The length and breadth of the floor of a room are 14m and 10m. Find
the area of the carpet which is to be spread on the entire floor?
19. Which has a greater area, a rectangle of 10cm long and 6cm wide or
a square of 8cm wide. What is the difference in their areas?
20. Find the area of the following figure
Answers
1. The one property of a square is,
All sides of a square are equal in length.
2. The one property of a rectangle is,
The opposite sides of a rectangle are equal to each other.
3. The formula of area of square is side × side.
4. The side of the square is 5cm.
We know that the formula of area of square = side × side.
Area = 5cm × 5cm = 25cm2.
5.
1 box is 1 Square cm so, 18 boxes( 6 × 3 ) are 18 square cm.
= 4.5 × 4.5
= 20.25cm2.
11. Area of rectangle = length × breadth
Area of dining room = 6m × 8m
= 48m2.
12. The perimeter of a square is 480m.
Perimeter of square = 4 × side
480m = 4 × side
side = 480 / 4
side = 120m
Area of square = side × side
= 120m × 120m
= 14400m².
13. According to the question, the area of a square is equal to the area of a
rectangle.
Area of rectangle = L × B
= 12cm × 3cm = 36cm2.
Area of square = 36cm2.
Area of square = side × side
So, 36cm2 = side × side ( Take x as side of the square)
36cm2 = x2
x = √36
x = 6cm,
Therefore, the side of a square is 6cm.
14. We can find out this by counting squares.
So, the area of the blue region is 33 square units.
15. Area of triangle = 12× base × height
