SUMMER ASSIGNMENT

2023-24
Grade: 10
Subject : MATHEMATICS
SECTION-A
1 DIRECTION: In the question number below, a statement of assertion (A) is
followed
by a statement of Reason (R). Choose the correct option
Statement A (Assertion):
If product of two numbers is 5780 and their HCF is 17, then their LCM is 340
Statement R ( Reason) : HCF is always a factor of LCM
a) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation
of
assertion A
b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is not the correct
explanation
of assertion (A)
(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but reason (R) is true.
2 Assertion: The graph y=f(x) is shown in figure, for the polynomial f(x). The
number of zeroes of f(x) is 3.
Reason: The number of zero of the polynomial f(x) is the number of point of
which f(x) cuts or touches the axes

assertion
C) Assertion is true but reason is false.
d) both Assertion and reason are false
Ans: c) Assertion is correct but reason is false
SECTION – B (2 MARKS)
3 sin (A + B) = 1 and sin (A - B) =1/2; 0° < A + B ≤ 90°; ∠A > ∠B. Find ∠A and ∠B.
ANS ∠A = 60° and ∠B = 30°
4 Evaluate the following:
(i) cosec2 45° + tan2 45° - 3sin2 90°
(ii) cos 60° cos 30° - sin 60° sin 30°
5 In the given figure, if LM || CB and LN || CD
Prove that AM/AB=AN/AD
In the given figure, QR/QS=QT/PR and ∠1 = ∠2. show that ∆PQR ~ ∆TQR.
6

.In the given figure, DE||BC. If AD= x, DB= x-2, AE = X+2 , EC = x-1 find the value of
7 x

8 In the Figure, PQ and AB are respectively the arcs of two concentric circles of a radii 7 cm
and 3.5 cm and centre O. If ∠POQ = 30°, then find the area of the shaded region. [Use π =
22/7]

9 On a morning walk, three persons step off together and their steps measure 40cm, 42
cm and 45cm respectively. What is the minimum distance each should walk so that each
can cover the same distance and complete steps?
10 If 49x+ 51y = 499, 51 x + 49 y= 501, then find the value of x and y. 18
11 Given below is the distribution of weekly pocket money received by students of a class.
Calculate the pocket money that is received by most of the students.

SECTION - C (3 MARKS)

12 ABC is a triangle in which AB=AC and D is a point on AC such that BC X BC = AC X

AD. Prove that BD= BC
13 For what value of k, which the following pair of linear equations have infinitely many
solutions:

14 Find the values of α and β for which the following pair of linear equations has infinite
number of solutions.

17 In the Figure, the side of square is 28 cm and radius of each circle is half of the length of
the side of the square where 0 and Oare centres of the circles. Find the area of shaded
region.

Ans: 1708 cm2

20 CASE STUDY:
Tania is very intelligent in math. She always tries to relate the concept of math in daily life. One day
she plans to cross a river and wants to know how far it is to the other side. She takes measurements
on her side of the river and makes the drawing as shown below.

S1: < ACB = < DCE S2: < BAC = < CDE
Which of the above statements is/are correct.
(a) S1 and S2 both (b) S1 (c) S2 (d) None (a)
(ii) Consider the following statement:

Which of the above statements are correct?
