The Cellular Jail
The Cellular Jail, also referred to as Kala Pani,
was a colonial jail situated in the Indian islands
of Andaman and Nicobar. It stands as a mute
Spectator to the inhuman sufferings of the patriots
and freedom fighters. Every brick of the Cellular
jail has got a heart rendering story of resistance,
sufferings and sacrifices.

The prisoners in here were brutally treated,

subjected to physical assault, and solitary
confinement. The Life of each brave heart in this
Jail was very challenging. With little food and
clothing, the prisoners were compelled to do
gruelling manual work.

Many charismatic personalities were imprisoned in

this Jail. The list is long and distinguished.
Notably books written by Savarkar motivated youth
and inspired a lot of Indians to fight against the
British for freedom. Also because of his
exceptional quality of being courageous he earned
the nickname 'Veer' and came to be known as Veer
Savarkar.
