A volcano is a mountain with a large circular opening (crater).


Below the surface of the Earth, there is magma. Magma is very hot material that flows onto
the surface from the vents. When magma reaches the surface, it becomes lava. When a volcano
erupts, it brings lava to the surface and ash to the air.
If you are near and erupting volcano, call the emergency number in your town and ask for
help. =D

Shodo is the Japanese style of artistic writing. To write using shodo, grind and ink stick onto a
special ink stone. Add water to the ink stone to make liquid ink. Then use a paintbrush to add
artistic strokes onto plain white paper.
