Batteries are useful in order to navigate and adjust the protection in absence of current on plant (or
voltage, in case the breaker is with RCD integrated) or auxiliary supply.
In absence of batteries or with battery low, the ETU continue to work correctly and the protection
settings and fault hystory log will not get lost.

125-160/250 (TM/ELE +RCD) – RCD PROTECTION TRIP TEST 59
The earth leakage device must be
periodically checked performing the
diagnostic trip test.
➢ In case of electronic S1 protection unit, the trip test can be performed only by Technical Assistance, by means
of specific PC/breaker interface (internal reference code);
➢ In case of electronic S10 protection unit, the trip test can be performed by customer too.
REMIND

❑ General device and installation state (presence of conductive dust, burning signs,
insulation losses, breakings...);
❑ If the device has an integrated RCD, verify the tripping indicator: if yellow, the
device has protected an earth leakeage fault.
The entity of fault can be checked only on ELE+RCD devices by means of USB port
or display, if present).
❑ If the device has an electronic release S10, verify the protection unit display in
order to quickly confirm if the device has protected an overcurrent fault (last
trip menu page). For more details, it’s always possible to connect the device to a PC
or mobile device by mini USB port, in order to check the full hystory log with details on
phases/protections involved.
For S1 devices, the last trip indication and the trip log can be checked only by
means of SERVICE port (S1) by Technical Assistance and Service team.
