2.7 Using Number Format

Three different types of Excel categorizes.

o Numbers
o Text
o Dates & Times

In Excel , Numeric data will be calculations Formulas.Zip Codes , Social security

numbers , Product codes or Phone numbers are not calculate.

• Home > Number > Format Cell

✓ General > No Applies Specific format (8500)

✓ Number > Displays two decimal places (8500.00)
✓ Currency > Currency Symbol to the left of the value ($8500)
✓ Accounting > Currency symbol lines up decimal points. ($ 8500)
✓ Short date > Displays the date (01/8/1980)
✓ Long Date > Displays the date expanded format (Monday ,March 25 2018
✓ Time > Displays Time (8:00 AM)
✓ Percentage > Displays the percent symbol and rounds up (500.00%)
✓ Fraction > Fraction (1/2)
✓ Scientific > Scientific notation
✓ Text > Data entered will be treated as text
