Room 310 Families,

Welcome to 7th Grade! My name is Becky Maltz and I will be teaching 7th and 8th Grade English
Language Arts this year. Your child will be with me for the first 75 minutes of school for Homeroom
and ELA and the last hour for Social Emotional Learning and Homeroom. They will have Ms. Blum for
Science and Mr. Albrecht for both Math and Social Studies.

We will not run our normal schedule for most of the first week of school, though students will spend
time in all their classrooms. During this first week, we will work on building relationships and creating
our classroom community expectations.

First Day: Meet on the Southeast Playlot where I will be to bring the students up to the classroom. Students will
be dismissed at the same place each day at 3:45 pm.

Student Technology: Each student will be issued a chromebook. This chromebook is not to leave the third floor
of Ray School. When students are not using their chromebooks they will be housed in the cart in Room 310.

About Ms. Maltz:
I have been at Ray School since 2012. I have taught kindergarten and fourth grade prior to moving middle
school this year. I graduated with my elementary education degree from National-Louis University. I obtained
my masters degree to become a reading specialist from University of Illinois at Chicago. I am endorsed in
teaching English as a Second Language.

I grew up in the suburbs but am now a devoted city girl. My husband and I have our english bulldog Stella and
our daughter Maya. In my free time I am all about relaxing though my family and I love to get out and enjoy the
city.
