Surrealism is a movement of visual art.

It was created in
Europe (mostly in Paris) around World War 1 and 2. The
creator’s name was André Breton. Surrealism was founded in
1924. Surrealism is used most in advertising.

Pablo Picasso was one of the most famous surrealism artists.


Some paintings, such as the dream and the Woman with a
flower, are extremely unrealistic. Also, you can see that the
ideas behind the painting show how dreams are very different
from real life.

The artist Salvador Dali was also a surrealism artist. He was


born on the 11th of May of 1904 in Spain. He was named after
his older brother who died just before he was born. He died in
1989, in the same place that he was born in.

The painting ‘The melting clock’ was made in 1954 by


Salvador Dali. It was made on a canvas.

The painting ‘The basket of bread’ was made in 1926 by


Salvador Dali. It was made with oil and canvas.
