Duration:70 minutes

Unit : GEOMETRY

Topic : Finding gradient of a straight line graph

Standard: To correctly perform method of substitution to find gradient of a line from its graph.

General objective Students should be able to correctly perform method of substitution to find gradient
of a line from its graph.

Specific objective: Students will be able to:

1. Recall the formula for finding gradient of a straight line

2. Identify correctly points that can be use to find the gradient of straight line

3. Read off coordinates of the points identified correctly in the form (x,y)

4. Perform substitution correctly in formula for gradient of a line and accurately calculated gradient of
the line wih at least 90% accuracy.

5. Complete given group task with 90% accuracy

6. Navigate a pre design comprehensive worksheet that requires them to

correctly master at least 95% of the questions

Teaching/learning activity

Engage:

The teacher will use questions from the pre-design worksheet to explain and demonstrate how to

Identify correctly points that can be use to find the gradient of straight line.

The teacher will mark on the board the identified points and ask students to provide the coordinates of
these points in the form (x,y)

The teacher will ask the students to recall the formula for finding the gradient of a straight line, which
will written on the board.

The teacher will label the identified coordinates as (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

The teacher will explain and demonstrate how to use the Identified points to correctly find the gradient
of the straight line.

Evaluate

Students will complete assigned questions from worksheet
