MAINTENANCE MANUAL

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS

1. Scope
A. This chapter outlines the mandatory replacement times and inspection intervals for components
and airplane structures considered to be life-limited, or to require monitoring through scheduled
inspections. This chapter applies to items such as fatigue components and structures that are
considered a part of the certification process.

NOTE: The Airworthiness Limitations section is FAA Approved and specifies inspection and
maintenance required under Parts 43.16 and 91.409 of the Federal Aviation Regulations,
unless an alternative program has been FAA approved.

2. Definition
A. This chapter contains three sections as outlined below.
(1) Inspection Time Limits (4-10-00) describes and lists systems and components that are required
to be inspected at specified intervals. The intervals specified represent the maximum time
allowable between inspections.
(2) Replacement Time Limits (4-11-00) describes and lists life limited components that are to be
replaced at a specific time.
(3) Russian Certified Airplanes Replacement Time Limits (4-11-03) describes and lists life limited
components that are to be replaced at a specific time.

REPLACEMENT TIME LIMITS

1. General
A. Certification for 14 CFR 23.571 and 23.572 requires the pressurized cabin, wing, and empennage be
of a fail-safe or safe life design. If the safe life approach is chosen, life limits must be established on
those parts so designated prior to obtaining certification. Since the Model 525 design is fail-safe, a
safe life (or life limit) need not be, and has not been, established for any of the affected parts.
