CENTRAL WATER HEATER CALCULATION

1- Spa water heater

2- Pool water heater
3- Domestic water heater
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1- Spa Heater

- Capacity of Spa (in gallon) = Volume in feet cub X 7.5 (gal/cu. Ft)

- KW Required = Capacity in gallon X 8.3 (LBS./GAL) X temp. rise in F/hr

3413
2- Pool water heater

- Heater should make up pool heat losses

- Pool Surface area = -------------- sq. ft.
- Desired pool temperature = --------------- °F
- Average outdoor air temperature during the months pool is in use
= --------------- °F
- Temperature differential between air and pool temperature during the coldest
month the pool is to be used
Δt = Desired pool temperature – Average air temperature
- KW required= pool surface area (sq.ft.) x Δt (°F) X 12

-Assumes a heat loss of 12 BTU/hour per sq. ft. per one °F of temperature deference
between pool and air around
- 1 KW = 3413 BTU / hour

3- Domestic water heater

- Probable maximum demand = Total GPH for all fixtures X demand factor
- Storage hot water tank = Probable maximum demand X storage factor
- KW = GPH XTemp. Rise
