Career & Technical Education

At AISTAC, we all learn by doing.
We guide each other by creating learnings and putting it to action. We help each other tackle projects that
mirror on-the-job challenges and develop the needed knowledge and skill necessary to secure and become
productive members of the industry.
At AISTAC learners may choose to attend AISTAC for a half or full day. Half-day students spend their
mornings or afternoons at AISTAC and the remainder of the day reporting for work. Full-day students take
both their technical and life skill courses at AISTAC.

Technical Center
Students may choose to attend AISTAC for a full day. Full-day students take their tech voc courses that include
basic English, math, science, social studies and physical education.
AISTAC courses/programs and seminars are rigorous and designed to prepare groups and individuals for future
success in the workplace and beyond. Some full-day students are eligible for dual enrollment.

AISTAC Student Organizations

Career & Technical Organizations are a key component in strong career and technical education programs.
These service-based organizations’ offerings complement AISTAC coursework, extending learning beyond the
classroom with innovative programs and community partnerships. All AISTAC students are eligible for
membership in AISTAC Technical Group and those who join them benefit from leadership training,
community service, skills competition, professional development and much more.

Internships, Co-ops & OJTs

OJTs, Job shadows, internships and co-ops provide AISTAC students with opportunities to test their skills in
the real world and get a sense of what work life is like. The programs help students gain resume-building
experience and deepen the AISTAC’s labor pool.
During job shadows, students spend part of a typical day with a professional in their chosen field of study and
learn about the different aspects of a job, as well as what’s required to get it done. Internships are an option for
for beginners/entry level practitioners, who are matched with local and international businesses.

Job shadows and internships ready seniors for the co-op (cooperative education) program. AISTAC’s co-op
partners offer paid positions to students and pair them with mentors who provide on-the-job training in
preparation for end-of-program performance evaluations.
