Efficiencyboosting technologies
The 2015 Civic range offers Honda’s unique Eco Assist™ technology to help owners drive
at optimum efficiency. Based on Honda’s own research and insight that different driving
styles can create as much as a 15 per cent variance in fuel economy, the system uses the
car’s speedometer to advise drivers how their driving style is impacting on fuel economy.
styles can create as much as a 15 per cent variance in fuel economy, the system uses the
car’s speedometer to advise drivers how their driving style is impacting on fuel economy.
If the car is being driven economically, the dashboard glows green. If the driver slightly
exceeds the best level of throttle control, the dashboard will glow white / green. Finally,
during heavy acceleration and deceleration, it will glow white. The system is further
enhanced with the option of ECON mode, which once activated alters the mapping of the
drivebywire throttle system to ensure a smooth increase in torque for a more relaxing
drive and greater fuel efficiency.
To further enhance efficiency, Idle Stop technology is standard on all manual transmission
Civic models. It offers seamless operation that can contribute to a five grams per kilometre
of CO₂ saving for the diesel variant. When the driver reaches a standstill and selects
neutral, the engine will automatically stop when the clutch is released. The engine
automatically restarts when the driver engages the clutch to select a gear. A display on the
dashboard indicates the operation of Idle Stop.
All Civic models feature the company’s highlydurable starter motor to cope with the
increased number of starts that go handinhand with the adoption of Idle Stop.
The Idle Stop system can be disabled, if prefered, via the button on the centre fascia.

INTERIOR: CLASSLEADING SPACE AND VERSATILITY
Hidden versatility and unrivalled practicality
Classleading boot space of 477 (Civic) and 624 (Tourer) litres with the rear
seats upright
Magic Seats create one of the most practical interiors in the Csegment
Behind the sophisticated and sporty exterior design of Civic is hidden versatility that offers
clever functionality and unrivalled practicality.
Despite being only 235 mm longer than the Civic fivedoor, making it the most compact
wagon in the Csegment, the Civic Tourer offers classleading trunk space. With the rear
seats up, it offers 624litres of volume, up to the tonneau cover; accommodating three
large suitcases with the cover pulled over. With the rear seats down, it offers 1,668litres of
space up to the roof lining.
The Tourer’s wide and lowtothefloor exterior hides one of the roomiest interiors of any C
The Tourer’s wide and lowtothefloor exterior hides one of the roomiest interiors of any C
segment car; offering 1,431 mm of shoulder room between driver and front seat
passenger and 795 mm of leg room between the front and rear seat. The height and width
of the Civic Tourer are identical to the Civic fivedoor. The slightly raised roofline of the
Civic Tourer means more headroom in the rear for occupants.
The Civic range benefits from Honda’s unique centre fueltank layout. The fuel tank is
located under the front seats, allowing the Civic to offer unparalleled interior space and
flexible practicality, optimised by Honda’s Magic Seat configuration.
The rear seat assembly folds down in one easy movement, and the interior trunk floor has
been raised to create a completely flat area when the seats are folded down. The rear seat
cushions can also be flipped up to reveal ample floor space for carrying tall objects. A
60:40 split in the seat base offers even more options for carrying both people and cargo,
and provides an alternative load area if access via the tailgate is limited.
2015 Civic Tourer benefits from many practical solutions designed to make it even more
convenient and functional. The tonneau cover, which can be removed, is a conventional
roll version that covers the load space in the trunk and can be removed and stored away.
The trunk features an underfloor compartment with a twoposition lid. The floor of the Civic
Tourer is raised (in comparison to the fivedoor) creating additional capacity in the
underfloor box (Civic Tourer: 117litres; Civic fivedoor: 75litres). This compartment can
accommodate two flight cases with the lid in place, or alternatively with the lid down to the
lowest position, the under floor compartment can carry objects as tall as one metre.
The height of Civic Tourer’s loading lip has been lowered for even greater practicality and
access (565 mm), making loading and unloading the trunk easier.

SAFETY: COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES PROTECT OCCUPANTS
AND PEDESTRIANS
New automatic lowspeed braking system applied as standard
‘Safety for Everyone’ ethos runs through entire Honda model range
New features: Advanced Driving Assist Systems
Honda’s commitment to safety is embodied by the term ‘Safety for Everyone’: safety for
drivers, passengers, pedestrians and occupants of all vehicles. Honda achieves this
through a range of passive and active safety features, which aim to prevent or mitigate
accidents and injuries.
The Civic range features an extensive list of safety technologies allowing it to carry the
coveted fivestar Euro NCAP rating for Safety.
As with all Honda cars, safety was at the forefront of the development team’s mind when
refreshing the Civic lineup. The range benefits from a suite of advanced active safety
features designed to offer all round safety, every day. These technologies aim to ensure
that safety is affordable and accessible to customers within the Csegment.
Advanced Driving Assist Systems
Honda has introduced a new suite of sensorbased active safety systems on the Civic that
use a combination of cameras, shortrange ‘lidar’ (laser radar) and radar technologies.
The threemodel lineup utilises these technologies and many other advanced safety
features to deliver a high standard of safety in all conditions, giving drivers and passengers
complete piece of mind.
CityBrake Active system **
Specifically designed to help avoid or mitigate low speed accidents, the CityBrake Active
system is a laser radar system that scans the road ahead and automatically applies the
brakes if an imminent risk of collision is detected. The system operates at speeds below
32 km/h and is designed to detect cars and trucks.
If the system identifies that the risk of collision exists then prebraking, as well as audible
and visual warning will occur, and eventually full autonomous braking will occur. The
system can be turned off by the driver only when the vehicle is stationary and it will remain
off until the driver turns off the ignition. The system will become active once the ignition is
switched back on.
High Beam Support System
The High Beam Support System works at speeds of more than 40 km/h to switch High
Beam head lights on / off automatically depending on oncoming / preceding vehicles (cars,
trucks and motorcycles), bicycles and environmental brightness. The system can be
turned off by the driver at any time.
Lane Departure Warning
Lane Departure Warning uses the multipurpose camera to track lane markings on the
road. If the car deviates from its current lane without indicating, Lane Departure Warning
alerts the driver with audible and visual warnings. The system operates at speeds of more
than 64 km/h where the road has a curve radius of 250 metres or more.
Traffic Sign Recognition System
Traffic Sign Recognition System uses the multipurpose camera to detect road signs
whenever the vehicle is moving forward. The system automatically recognises and
displays the signs via the intelligent Multi Information Display (iMID) once the vehicle has
passed the sign.
The system is designed to detect circular road signs displaying speed limits and ‘No
Passing’ information. Two road signs can be displayed at any one time – the right side of
the display only shows speed limit signs and the left side is for ‘No Passing’ signs and
speed limits with additional information, such as weather conditions, for example.
Blind Spot Information
Blind Spot Information uses radar technology to automatically detect vehicles in the
driver’s blind spot and warn of potential dangers when the vehicle is travelling at speeds of
more than 20 km/h. The system is designed to detect cars and trucks and can help to
support drivers in situations such as passing other vehicles and merging or changing
lanes.
When a vehicle enters the driver’s blind spot a visual warning is displayed on the door
mirror. This remains until the vehicle leaves the blind spot. If the driver operates the
indicator whilst the vehicle is in the blind spot, the visual warning will blink and an audible
mirror. This remains until the vehicle leaves the blind spot. If the driver operates the
indicator whilst the vehicle is in the blind spot, the visual warning will blink and an audible
warning will sound to further alert the driver to the potential danger.
Cross Traffic Monitor
Honda’s Cross Traffic Monitor system uses rear side radar sensors to warn the driver of
approaching vehicles when reversing. The direction of an approaching vehicle is shown
either on the rearview camera screen or displayed using arrows showing the direction of
the travelling vehicle on the iMID and an audible warning sound. The system is designed
to detect cars and trucks travelling up to 25 km/h.
Adaptive Cruise Control **
Adaptive Cruise Control allows the driver to choose both their speed and distance from the
vehicle ahead. If this falls below the set level, the system instantly decelerates the vehicle.
The system will accelerate the vehicle back to the preselected speed when safe to do so
– either the car ahead speeds up or the driver moves into an adjoining lane. The system is
cancelled when human intervention occurs, either via the brake or the accelerator pedal.
When quicker deceleration is required the system will alert the driver to apply the brakes
using visual and audible warnings.
Collision Mitigation Braking System **
This system monitors the following distance and closing rate between the car and the
vehicle (car or truck) directly in front of it, warning the driver (audibly and visually) when a
collision is likely and helping reduce impact speed by applying the brakes when a collision
becomes unavoidable. The system operates at speeds of more than 15 km/h.
Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure
Developed in the cartocar crash testing facility at Tochigi, the ACE™ body structure is
now a wellestablished strength of Honda’s safety credentials. The ACE™ body structure
provides significantly enhanced occupant protection in a variety of realworld crash
conditions. A frontmounted polygonal main frame is designed to prevent cabin
deformation by distributing forces through multiple major load bearing pathways and
away from the passenger compartment. Additionally, it helps to minimise the potential for
under or override situations, this is particularly important where a frontal collision occurs
between vehicles of differing heights, weights or frame construction.
Pedestrian Injury Mitigation Design
Research shows that Pedestrian Injury Mitigation Design features can dramatically
improve a pedestrian's chance of survival if struck by a moving vehicle. Features include
windscreen wiper pivots designed to break away on impact, energy absorbing front wing
mounts and bonnet hinges, as well as an unobstructed area beneath the bonnet allowing
windscreen wiper pivots designed to break away on impact, energy absorbing front wing
mounts and bonnet hinges, as well as an unobstructed area beneath the bonnet allowing
greater space for deformation.
The Civic range also features a wide range of active safety features that are available on
the entire Honda European model lineup.
Vehicle Stability Assist is designed to assist the driver in maintaining control during
cornering, acceleration and sudden manoeuvres by applying braking assistance to any of
the wheels as necessary and modulating the engine torque output as required.
This system is supplemented by the Antilock Braking System, controlled by a compact
and lightweight Vehicle Stability Assist modulator. It is complemented by Electronic Brake
force Distribution, which adjusts fronttorear brake effort to achieve maximum braking
performance and stability based on the vehicle’s speed
The Emergency Stop System, which automatically activates the brake and hazard warning
lights (indicators) when it detects an emergency stop situation. The lights blink rapidly to
warn following vehicles that the vehicle is stopping abruptly, reducing the risk of collision.
The Civic is fitted with five threepoint Emergency Locking Retractor seatbelts. The front
seatbelts also have twostage Energy Absorption load limiting pretensioners. In the rear,
ISOFIX points ensure secure and correct installation and mounting of child seats.
Once the engine is started a weight sensor detects whether the front seats are occupied.
If the driver or front passenger has not already fastened the seatbelt, an icon in the cluster
illuminates and a chime sounds as a reminder to do so.
On all models the driver and passenger Supplemental Restraint System front and side
airbags are complemented by full length curtain airbags to protect all occupants.
** CityBrake Active system, Collision Mitigation Braking System and Adaptive Cruise
Control are not available in conjunction with each other.
The Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Blind Spot Indicator systems
can all be turned off by the driver when the vehicle is stationary.
