Pollution is the introduction of harmful
materials into the environment. These
harmful materials are called pollutants.
Pollutants can be natural, such as volcanic ash. They can also
be created by human activity, such as trash or runoff produced
by factories. Pollutants damage the quality of air, water, and
land. Pollution can take the form of any substance (solid,
liquid, or gas) or energy (such as radioactivity, heat, sound, or
light) which harms our environment.
Plastic is made up of toxic materials such as benzene and
Phthalates which cause them to remain toxic forever. That's
why plastics cause significant harm to our environment in the
form of air, water and land pollution.
Burning of plastic release toxic gases like dioxins etc into the
atmosphere which cause air pollution.
It is estimated that around 8 million tonnes of plastic is
dumped into the oceans each year. This plastic harms the
marine life very much as they eat them, thinking it is edible.
The maximum seen influences of plastic debris are the ingestion,
suffocation and entanglement of loads of marine species. Marine
natural world along with seabirds, whales, fish and turtles mistake
plastic waste for prey; maximum then die of hunger as their
stomachs come to be packed with plastic.
