Enhanced Features Manager

The Features Manager has a new user interface, completed with a search bar, sort and filter options. Find,
organize, and access features in complex parts faster and easier.

In this ESPRIT EDGE version, this new Features Manager becomes the default manager. The legacy features
manager of ESPRIT TNG is still available via a switch in Options / Features / Legacy Feature Manager.

Accurate Cycle Time

Accurate Cycle Time from the digital twin simulation is now available without running the simulation.

• Cycle time accounts for all type of events and motions. It considers axis acceleration and deceleration,
tool change, rapid/feed motions, links, dwell time, and various actuation times.

• Cycle time is dependent on an accurate machine digital twin definition.

• All cycle times are consistent across the system.

• Time is available:

• At the bottom of the program

• In property browser

• On reports

• From the API

• Simulation start at any shows elapsed time for the overall program

Multiple Home Positions

Secondary reference positions for selection of final position can be defined for Park Cycle and Tool Change
location. Edit the reference positions per part in the document machine setup and save the positions within a
template.

A Reference Position is a user defined position with respect to the machine coordinate system. These are
channel specific and are only available when working within that channel.

The Reference Position List shows the current available reference positions for the machine and gives you the
ability to add, remove, or edit existing reference positions per channel. The Reference Positions listed here are
available in the dropdown selection for Tool Changes and Parks.

In the Program Manager, you can change the tool change position to a Reference Position added in the
machine setup.

Setup Change Automation

With the new workflow automation across setup, program multiple setups with one document and one
workpiece. The programming is simplified, and the automatic update across setups prevents programming
errors.

Indeed, ESPRIT EDGE handles multiple setups on the same machine, allows programming OP10, OP20, and
more, supports programming OP10 and OP20 sequentially or side by side and automatically propagates all
changes on OP10 to OP20.

With setup change automation…

• Add setup to change the setup in the middle of the program.

• Select the workpiece sequence when mounting the workpiece in the new setup.

• Benefit of automatic update across setups when the program changes.

• Program setup for the first part, then add the production setup for cutting 2 operations side by side.

• Add a park at the end of a setup for additional control.

• Mount/unmount fixture, rotary table, tailstock and steady in an intermediate setup.

Chamfering and Deburring

A new cycle is available for performing deburring of sharp edges or chamfering of modelled chamfers of the
part. This cycle is shared with EDGECAM and is previewing future synergies between our Production
Machining solutions.

The cycle offers the following features:

• Deburr sharp edges of a solid.

• Cut modelled chamfers.

• Compatible with the following chamfer tool types:

• No feature required, select edges, loops, or faces directly on the model.

• Geometry to chamfer must be planar and parallel to the active work plane.

• Filter holes by diameter and edges by slope angle.

• Cut with top or bottom of the tool based on surrounding geometry.

• The cycle performs a full collision detection with the tool holder.

5-Axis Deburring

New cycle 5-axis Deburring deburr automatically all sharp complex edges of a part in a single operation along
all directions by minimizing tool rotation, optimizing cutting conditions and avoiding collision with the tool
assembly.

The cycle offers the following features:

• Deburr all sharp complex edges of a part in a single operation.

• For spherical endmills (ballmill and lollipop).

• Select or exclude edges/loops to deburr for more control.

• Select side engagement for best cutting conditions or minimize rotation with a privileged orientation.

• Motion can be limited to create a strict 4-Axis deburring.

• Cutting tool autotilts for reaching farther into the model and for preventing collision.

3-Axis and 5-Axis cycles improvements

Unification of features across freeform cycles with:

• Fixture avoidance available for all 3-axis cycles

• Differential stock allowance available for all 3-axis cycles

• Tapered bull nose endmill support with Impeller cycle

• 5-axis Spiral Finishing support for tapered ball mill and autotilting.

Stock-awareness with hollow parts

3-axis Z-level roughing cycle has been updated to prevent air cutting when breaking through an opening in the
workpiece. This capability is also compatible with 4 and 5-axis roughing using the same cycle.

This option is available in the new Stock Cavity tab of the Z-Level Roughing with the following parameters:

• Stock Cavity Detection: avoid creating cut passes in the inner cavity of the stock.

• Undercut Depth Extension: extend the depth of the cutting passes to ensure complete material
removal.

3-Axis Turning

The lathe contouring cycle of ESPRIT EDGE has a new option to continuously change the orientation of a
turning tool while cutting. This capability enables better surface finish with uninterrupted cut and shorter cycle
time by doing more with 1 tool.

3-Axis turning offers the following features:

• Turning with XZ and B-axis

• Turning in YZ plane with tool orientation handled by the tool spindle axis.

• Specify intermediate tool positions and graphically check fitment of the tool assembly on the part.
ESPRIT EDGE automatically interpolate orientation between user-set positions.

• Use automatic mode to keep a constant lead angle. When necessary, ESPRIT EDGE can
automatically tilt the tool to prevent collision and to reach further in the part.

• The option requires setting the control point at the center of the tool nose insert.

Additive DED improvements

A new parametric additive tool definition that complements the tool definition from a user profile is now
available. And operation settings have been optimized for this new parametric tool definition.

The Zigzag deposition strategy is enhanced for a continuous deposition. It minimizes interruptions to the
deposition bead and provides greater process stability and reproducibility.
