2288X V5 Servers with Standard Configurations

Before installing the operating system, configure the RAID for the server to improve storage
performance and data security of the disks. This section describes how to configure the RAID on the
iBMC web page for Huawei 2288X V5 servers with standard configurations (two disks).

Procedure

1. Log in to the iBMC web management page.

a. In the address box of a browser, enter the iBMC address in the format of https://IP
address of the iBMC management network port on the server. The default address is
https://192.168.2.100.

b. Press Enter.

The iBMC login page is displayed in the browser, as shown in Figure 4-2.

o If the browser displays "There is a problem with this website's security


certificate", click Continue to this website (not recommended).

o If the Security Alert dialog box is displayed, click OK.

c. On the iBMC login page, enter the user name and password.

The default user name is Administrator. For the preset password, see the device documentation.

If you enter incorrect passwords for five consecutive times, the system will lock your account. Wait
for five minutes and log in again.

d. Select This iBMC from the Domain drop-down list.

e. Click Log In. The Home page is displayed. Move the cursor to in the upper right
corner to display the login user name.
2. Power on the server.

a. In the Shortcuts area on the homepage, click Power Control.

b. If the value of System Power is On, go to the next step. Otherwise, click Power On.
Wait until the value of System Power changes to On.

3. In the navigation tree, choose System > Storage Management. The controller information is
displayed.

4. Click in the upper right corner and set JBOD to Disabled.

▪ If the device has just been powered on, the configuration page may not be displayed.
Wait and then open the configuration page again.

▪ Disable the JBOD mode. If this mode is enabled, disable the mode and restart the
server.

5. Delete the existing Logical Drive 0. If a logical disk has been configured, click next to the
logical disk to delete it. In the displayed dialog box, click Yes.

Deleting a logical disk takes a long time. Ensure that the logical disk has been deleted and perform
subsequent operations after the system is restarted.

6. Configure RAID 1 using Disk0 and Disk1.


a. Click Add to create a logical disk.

o Set Drive Cache Policy to Disabled.

o Set Initialization State to Quick Init.

o Set RAID Level to 1.

o Select both disks for Physical Drive.

o Set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU.

b. Click Save. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.

If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is
complete.

7. Click Storage Management to refresh the page. Check whether the RAID level, write policy,
and capacity are the same as planned. If they are consistent, the configuration is correct.

iBMC web page for Huawei 2288X V5 servers (six disks).

Procedure

1. Log in to the iBMC web management page.

a. In the address box of a browser, enter the iBMC address in the format of https://IP
address of the iBMC management network port on the server. The default address is
https://192.168.2.100.

b. Press Enter.

The iBMC login page is displayed in the browser, as shown in Figure 4-3.

o If the browser displays "There is a problem with this website's security


certificate", click Continue to this website (not recommended).

o If the Security Alert dialog box is displayed, click OK.

c. On the iBMC login page, enter the user name and password.

o Select five disks for Physical Drive.

o Set Write Policy to Write Back with BBU.

b. Click Save. In the dialog box that is displayed, click Yes.

If a message indicating that the operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is
complete.

7. Configure the physical disk Disk5 as the hot spare disk.

a. Click Disk5.

b. Click Settings at the upper right corner.


8. In the Confirm dialog box that is displayed, click Yes. If a message indicating that the
operation succeeded is displayed, the RAID configuration is complete.

9. Click Storage Management to refresh the page. Check whether the RAID level, write policy,
and capacity are the same as planned. If they are consistent, the configuration is correct.
