a. 0 cells (0.0%) have expected frequencies less than 5. The minimum expected cell

frequency is 12.5.

From above table, we have χ 2 (1) = 0.000 p-value = 0.847 > α =0.05 In this case, we retain null

hypothesis and conclude that there is no significant difference between observed and expected

frequencies between respondent who live in rural and urban areas

Table:2

Frequency

Urdan 12 12.5 -.5

Rular 13 12.5 .5

Total 25

From the above table, we have χ^2(1) = 3.923, p-value = 0.048 < α-value = 0.05. In this case, we

reject the null hypothesis and conclude that there is association between the variables. That is,

the gender of respondents is dependent on the hometown, or there is difference in

distribution/frequencies of respondents based on their gender upon hometown.

Table 3 Test of Independence of Association between Gender and Hometown

From the table, we have Male respondents who live in rural (Expected = 26, Observed = 31),

urban (Expected = 26, Observed = 21). Similarly, Female respondents who live in Rural

(expected = 25, observed = 20), and Urban (Expected = 25, Observed = 30). The data show that

there is association between the variables. Moreover, Crammer's V value = 0.196 which shows

the moderate effect or association between the variables.
