SELF LOCKING CEMENTING PLUG

SledgeHammer’s cementing plugs are designed to provide wiping on the casing walls, separate
drilling fluid and cement. Plugs are made of materials that are easily drillable with a PDC bit. To
minimize contamination of the interface between the mud and the cement in the casing, a bottom
plug is pumped ahead of the cement slurry. The top cementing plug, pumped behind the cement
slurry, is pumped to a shutoff on the float collar, causing a pressure increase at the surface. Both
Plugs are shown in Fig 1.

 APPLICATIONS & BENEFITS

 Wiping on the casing walls.

 Non-Rotating profile allows the plug to lock in any casing inclination.
 Material is drillable with PDC bit.
 Material is high wear resistive to provide good wiping in long string.
 Standard Temperature rating is 120-150°C.
 Rupture area is designed for rupture at 300-400 psi burst pressure [May Vary on request].
 Combination plugs are also available as required.
 Top plug is available for 5000 PSI [May Vary on request].

 WORKING

There are only two types of plugs are used for wiping in string.
1. Bottom Cementing plug.
2. Top Cementing Plug

Bottom plug is pumped ahead of the cement slurry, to minimize contamination of the interface
between the mud and the cement in the casing. This plug wipes the mud from the casing inner
diameter as it moves down the pipe. When it reaches the float collar, differential pressure ruptures a
diaphragm at 300-400 psi [Vary on request], on top of the plug, allowing the cement slurry to flow
through the plug and the floating equipment and up the annular space between the pipe and the hole.
The top cementing plug, pumped behind the cement slurry, is pumped to a shutoff on the float
collar, causing a pressure increase at the surface. This is a signal that the cement has been displaced.
The top plug (black) has a solid insert with rubber wipers molded to the insert. The top plug
withstand the pressure 5000 PSI [Vary on request / Size].
