Specific Instructions to Students

1. Form a group/legal firm consisting of two (2) members. Register the group
members and the firm’s name in the link provided by the Course
Coordinator/Tutor.

2. Prepare the following documents in Bahasa Malaysia based on the assigned


case (refer Appendix 1):
(a) Charge sheet (10 marks);
(b) Witness statements (10 marks); and
(c) Opening Speech (10 marks).

3. Submit the hardcopy to the respective lecturer as follows:


(a) Charge sheet: Week 3
(b) Witness statements: During Trial
(c) Opening Speech: During Trial
Email a softcopy of the same after submission.

4. Use the cover page as attached at Appendix B for each documents.


5. Marks will be given collectively to each member of the group assuming that there
is full co-operation from each and every members of the group. (Unless there is
complain from members of the group relating to co-operation, then marks
will be deducted for the particular member after investigation)

Warning & Reminder

 Plagiarism is a serious offence. The lecturer/tutor has the rights not to accept
submission of plagiarised or duplicated work.

o hire or ask another individual to complete the assignment for you,

Group work
 Each group member must actively participate in the completion of the assignment.
Free-riding is unethical and extremely unfair to fellow group members.
 It is the responsibility of each group member to ensure that the final submission is
complete and of the acceptable standard. Should any errors or omission occurred in
the final submission, each group member is held accountable for negligence – in
other words, failure to perform their responsibilities as expected.

APPENDIX A
CASE

IPOH: Two women were charged in Sessions Court here today with trafficking a baby
girl in 2020.

Noor Azlina Mohd Nasir, 41, a nurse, and a housewife, D. Murugamal, 52, however,
pleaded not guilty after the charges against them were read before Judge Norashima
Khalid.

Noor Azlina, who is attached to a hospital in Alor Setar, Kedah, and Murugamal, from
Penang, were jointly charged with having the same intention to traffic a nine-day-old
baby girl, which is a form of illegal exploitation.

The offence was committed at a car park near a private hospital in Manjung, at about
noon on June 18, 2020.

They were charged under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-
Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007, which carries a minimum sentence of five
years in jail, up to life imprisonment and whipping, if convicted.
