Despite being introverted, Gates had a passion for reading and excelled in math. At
13, he wrote his first computer program, igniting his love for programming. He
connected with Paul Allen at Lakeside School, forming a close friendship and a
"programmers group."
During their college years in 1972, Gates and Allen founded Traf-O-Data, aiming to
provide traffic analysis software. Their initial product processed data for traffic
engineers. Gates left Harvard after two years to start Microsoft, launching "Altair
BASIC" in 1975 for the Altair 8800 computer, despite limited resources.
Microsoft's success surged, leading to products like Windows and Microsoft Office.
Gates' innovations transformed the software industry and made him incredibly
wealthy.
