The information contained in this dataset can be utilized for a variety of research goals. One
benefit includes providing a yearly detailed distribution of adjusted gross income and the
corresponding personal income tax liability, value of deductions, exemptions, and taxable
income by income class and county and/or region. With this information, a researcher can
determine the impact of external forces such as population growth and economic conditions
have on the different areas of New York State. On a similar note, county to county comparisons
can be made and using the data provided, other metrics such as average tax liability can be
computed and used for comparison.
