QAD No. 28, s. 2018

GUIDELINES ON THE USE OF THE NEW REGIONAL LOGO

TO: Schools Division Superintendents

Asst. Schools Division Superintendents
Heads, Public and Private Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools
All Personnel Concerned

1. For long years of being in operation, the DepEd Region XII has been performing
well and consequently been recognized for all its achievements but the region has not
been acknowledged for any specific branding that it would have wanted to be
identified.

2. Coming up with an organization logo that would best represent the region to
its numerous stakeholders, partners and customers is one of the best means in
advocating the region’s values and attributes.

3. Relative to all the above-cited premises, DepEd SOCCSKSARGEN hereby

declares an official regional logo to be recognized and/or used widely across
governance levels – from the region, schools divisions and schools. Enclosure 1
shows the official DepEd-SOCCSKSARGEN logo design, for reference.

4. Likewise attached is Enclosure 2: the Visual Logo Design and Concept for
information and guidance of all concerned:

VISUAL LOGO DESIGN

I. RATIONALE

The Department of Education is one government institution that is mandated

to provide, manage, implement and continuously improve the educational needs of
the community it serves. Seventeen (17) regional offices all over the country
specifically deliver these services to the different types of pupils and students, as
well as teachers, non-teaching personnel, partners and stakeholders.
In doing so, every region sees to it that their delivery of their services are
effective, efficient and makes an impact to the lives of their beneficiaries. Every
region works hard in order to create a lasting impression on the individuals it caters
to. And every region does much so as to be known as a performing region, compared
to other regions. Each would want to be identified as a region unique from the rest.

II. DEPED-SOCCSKSARGEN PROFILE

Executive Order No. 36, s. 2001, signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-
Arroyo, reorganized the administrative regions in Mindanao thereby creating the
Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), Region 11 (Southern
Mindanao), CARAGA, ARMM and Region 12 or SOCCSKSARGEN.

SOCCSKSARGEN has a total land area of 2,278,608 has. and is composed of

four (4) provinces and five (5) cities, namely: Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan
Kudarat, North Cotabato, General Santos City, Koronadal City, Tacurong City,
Kidapawan City and Cotabato City.

Consequently, the Department of Education put up its regional counterparts in

all Mindanao regions. SOCCSKSARGEN Region has, under its supervision, nine
schools division offices, 155 districts, 2,420 public schools (1849 elementary and
571 secondary schools) and 663 private schools (405 elementary & 258 secondary
schools).

III. ELEMENTS IN THE LOGO

The regional logo design was conceptualized by the regional office program
committee members, in collaboration with the rest of the RO employees. In coming up
with the design, the newly-crafted regional aspiration and quality policy were the
guiding principles. The tourist potentials, manpower resources and everything that is
in SOCCSKSARGEN were also considered because the logo will definitely be the best
representation of the region.

The following are included in the logo design:

Mt. Apo and Mt. Matutum – the highest peaks of the Philippines and are
both found in SOCCSKSARGEN. These represent resiliency of the people in the region,
withstanding the challenges and demands of time over the years.

Fruits, fishery and agricultural products - display the harvest and

bounties of SOCCSKSARGEN being the food basket of the south.

Industrial buildings, tourist spots - depict the region’s best in terms of

resources and services in agri-industrial, eco-tourism and social cultural fineness.

9 rays of the sun - symbolize the nine vibrant divisions of the region: the 5
city schools divisions of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Koronadal, Tacurong and General
Santos; and the 4 provincial divisions of Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat
and Sarangani.

Book and torch - symbols for education and lifelong learning

Gongs - represent the indigenous peoples living in the region, their culture, arts and
practices.

Kasali lahat. Kasama lahat.Para sa lahat.
