10.Differentiate the functions of the different types of white blood cells

There are 5 types of white blood cell.
 Monocytes have longer life span than many white blood cells and they can
help break down bacteria
 Lymphocytes can create antibodies to fight potential harmful invaders like
bacteria, viruses
 Neutrophils are the most numerous type of white blood cell and are your first
line of defense against infection strike
 Basophils are the alarm when an infectious agents invade your blood and it
also helps control the body’s immune system
 Eosinophils helps with allergic responses and also attacks and kills parasites
and cancer cells
11.Differentiate T-lymphocytes from B-lymphocytes
T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes are both white blood cells
 T lymphocytes are responsible for fighting off the cells that are causing the
infection and can wipe out infected or cancerous cells
 B lymbphocytes produce the antibodies that can prevent pathogens or any
foreign toxins from entering or to reach a normal cell and causing an infection

12.State the function of the different types of antibodies; lgA, lgG, lgD, lgE, lgM
IgA - (Immunoglobulin A) plays a key role in defending mucisal surfaces against
attack by infectious microorganism
IgG - is the body’s main defense against bacteria and protects newborns against
infections
IgD – can enhance mucosal homeostasis and immune surveillance
IgE – reacts to the allergen and can travel to cells that release chemicals or causing
an allergic reaction
IgM – serves as the first line host defence against infections but also plays an
important drole in immune regulations and immunological tolerance.
