NARRATIVE REPORT ON REITERATION OF PARTICIPANTS TO THE 2022 1ST

QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)

In relation to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC)

Memorandum No. 132, s. 2022 entitled “Participation to the 3rd Quarter Nationwide
Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2022”, Catabadan Elementary School participated in the
2022 3rd Quarter NSED on November 10, 2022, Thursday at 9:00 AM and practice
“duck, cover and hold” procedure.
In line with the campaign of the Department of Education in equipping the school
children with the knowledge, and skills on what to do in case of natural disaster like
earthquake, sstudents and teachers performed the duck, cover, and hold upon hearing
the loud siren which signaled the start of the drill aat exactly 9:00 o’clock in the morning
on Thursday. When the first alarm ringed, the students showed calmness without
panicking. On the 2nd alarm, the students seek shelter and protected themselves
wherever they were situated. They also performed duck, cover and hold under their
desks, tables and chairs and remained in such position until the shocking stop. And
then, on the 3rd alarm, the children started to evacuate from the rooms to the designated
evacuation areas.
After the actual drill, the school head Mrs. Jennifer B. Moldez, gave a speech on
what are the important matters in dealing with disasters like earthquakes. She
disseminated some information about the occurrence of earthquake as well as the
needs to carry out a drill to enhance students’ awareness on the safety measure before,
during and after an earthquake. This event facilitated the drill to become successful.
This helped a lot to the teachers and the school in managing emergencies especially in
the time of earthquake occurrences. This activity insured the pupils’ preparedness and
awareness regarding disaster risk reduction whenever they are in time of incidences.
