Introduction

Labo Progressive Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LPMPC) of Labo, Camarines Norte is one of


the partners of the Agriterra in Region 5, Philippines. LPMPC as LRO and the 3 assisted
GOACs; Caayunan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CMPC), San Lorenzo Ruiz Farmers
Agriculture Cooperative (SLRFAC) and San Vicente Kaanib Agtriculture Cooperative
(SVKAC) to capacitates them improve the business operation in terms of governance,
finance, business and marketing engaged in various agribusiness activities such as
Credit and Savings and Agri-enterprise like merchandizing of agricultural and veterinary

supplies, corn, palay and vegetables trading, production, processing and marketing of
pineapple, deco fiber processing, handwoven of pineapple cloth, swine multiplier farm
and organic plant supplement.

The partnership with Agriterra started in 2018 to further improve the cooperative
Agribusiness having these two enterprises as the coop “BHAG”. Through training and
seminars provided by the Agriterra Advisor and Agripoolers on Governance, Financial
Management, Risk Management FACT and MYCOOP, the operation of the cooperative

improved, while mentoring and coaching in the production and marketing improved the
sales of the two enterprises by more than 100% .
Agriterra has reviewed and selected Labo Progressive Multi-Purpose Cooperative
as the Grantee entitled EMPOWERING COOPERATIVES ALONG THE PINEAPPLE VALUE
CHAIN
THROUGH THE GROW COOP PROJECT, under the Sub Grant Agreement in support
of the activities.
The Labo Progressive Multi-Purpose Cooperative will serve as Local Resource
Organization (LRO) to assist the three-supplier cooperatives of LPMPC which belong to
growth - oriented agriculture cooperatives to improve the operation of their enterprise
under the GROW COOP Project
The overall goal of GROW-Coop is to expand the socio-economic conditions of
female and male members of cooperatives and their communities and improve rural
livelihood opportunities. It seeks to improve the organizational performance of
cooperatives and expand their business opportunities
By the End of the Program of Grow Coop, it aims to celebrate the
accomplishments and recognize the dedication and hard work of the LRO and GOACs and
provide an opportunity for everyone to have fun, socialize, and bond with one another.

Objectives
 To recognize the dedication and hard work of LRO and GOACs (SVKAC,CMPC,
SLRFAC)
 To provide an opportunity for everyone to have fun, socialize and bond with one
another.
 To inspire members to continue working together towards the common goals of the
cooperative in the coming year.
 Increase motivation to work more and be more focused keeping in mind the
sustainability of the project.

About Agriterra

cooperatives and farmer organisations with maximum impact for socio-economically
strong and productive rural areas. In 2018, with 117 employees, Agriterra advises 208
cooperatives in 17 countries. With our programme we reach more than 500.000 farmers.
In the last two years we have already mobilised more than 20 million euro made
available through policy changes. More than 40 cooperatives are linked to banks with a
mobilised loan for working capital and investments of more than 15 million euro, while 33
clients have a processing facility with increased production.

Through professionalising and strengthening cooperatives in Latin America, Africa and
Asia, Agriterra contributes to positive economic development and better income
distribution. Farmers organised in strong, competitive and trustworthy cooperatives are
indispensable for a vibrant rural economy, fostering agricultural development and off-
farm employment in rural areas.

Agriterra draws on a century of cooperative knowledge in the Netherlands disclosed via


its extensive network in the Dutch agri-food sector. These experts and Agripool experts
from farmers organisations all over the world, work together with business advisors from
the Netherlands and national business advisors in the countries where Agriterra staff is
based.
