1. Which perspective do you think provides the most adequate
presentation of what the painting implies to its readers? How does that explanation affect you as a student in relation to your own understanding of art?
Looking at the painting as it is without even knowing the
backstory of it or the purpose behind the painting, I could already tell that the person in the center is the main character on the way he is surrounded by all the people and how the lightning accentuates his features a lot more making the viewer of the painting focus on him. The way I understand the painting based on the story was how we should be prepared to die for what we believed in and I love how David painted this moment right here where it shows the moment right before Socrates death. When I view of this work, there’s somehow a mix of emotions I felt when I look at Socrates how he was so composed and stable even when he’s in a brink of death, how he’s so sure and there’s no sign of fear or doubt in his face and somehow sums up to me that there are people like Socrates nowadays who is ready to placed their lives on the line for their ideals and beliefs.
2. Do you think that being in a medical field is an art in itself as you
study the human anatomy? Site a particular aspect about the human anatomy that you think is an art in itself, and why?
Of course, as the popular saying goes ”Nursing is an Art” I
believed everything that nurses do is mixed with art. The nervous system particularly appalled me the most on how complicated our body works and how every little details is done with so much creativity. Looking at how complex those networks of nerves are and when you look at them closely on how they intertwined with each other and develops into its own matrix of interrelated parts makes it so astonishing and mind blowing.
3. Explanation
What I did in soap carving was I chose a very simple icon of
nursing and that is a person who’s wearing a cap. Throughout my nursing journey from freshman to senior I’ve always done my best and I know from the start that choosing this course and profession demands a lot of work and seeing how I’m close to reaching it makes it a lot fulfilling. I’ve got this far thanks to everyone who have supported me and definitely there’s no turning back now. I used this symbol for the reason that the cap or Flossie is usually worn by student nurses to celebrate accomplishments and most especially to welcome soon to be graduating nurses.
