History

Cristal e- College is a private non-sectarian educational institution which aims to mold the nations
man power for national and international development, it was formerly named Cristal Computer
Institute Inc. and was established on March 1, 2002 as franchisee of Informatics Computer Institute,
an institution engaged in world class Information Technology Training and Education Services, and is
part of a global network of 647 centers located in 60 countries around the world. It was granted
collegiate status in November 10, 2003 offering Associate in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science
in Computer Science, Associate in Computer, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Classes for its programs were held at Cristal Towers Building located at 50 Maria Clara Street,
Tagbilaran City.

Realizing the need for a better school site for more programs and better facilities the founder
decided to build a campus at Tawala, Panglao, Bohol. The corner along for the new edifice was laid in
September 2004, and the construction started in January 5, 2005. Government permits for new
programs were subsequently granted and classes were held in the new school complex in June 20,
2005 with an initial enrollment of 173 students. The following year, 315 students were enrolled with
a very slight increase on its third year operation. In 2008 the population increase by 55.32 percent,
and has steadily grown 1,045 at the current time.

The college is equipped with state of the art, competitive facilities conducive to academic
development and trainings. This led the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to commend the
school with two (2) awards of "EXCELLENCE" for its educational facilities. The continuing evolution of
the quality standards of Cristal e- College from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO:2008, With IWA to 2:2007
guidelines in education in the development of a customer focused organization lead to its
recognition by the community and the industry by A.Y. 2008-2009, Kawasaki, Kissen, Kaisha Ltd. Or
K-LINE of Tokyo, Japan choose Cristal e- College as the recipient of its Maritime Education
Scholarship Program (MESP). A full scholarship grant was initially approved for 24 engine fresh
cadets who were chosen from various testing centers in the Philippines. The company also facilitated
construction of a 144- student dormitory in Panglao in the latter part of May 2009.

Bouvet Shipping Management Corporation, a Japanese ship management company also extended a
full scholarship grant for deck and engine cadets. The grant has since expanded to 26 cadets.
Foundation Philippine Care, a Dutch funding agency for marginalized but deserving students
continues to sponsor up to the present time students in different academic programs. The college
also launched formally its industry academe linkage in 2009 and hosted owners/managers of resorts
and hotels in Panglao and other establishments to a discussion on strengthening cooperation in its
HRM mini function room. A regular consultation, every three years is held in the school to review
joint programs for the hospitality management department.

In the last four (4) years, the Maritime Academy and Training Institute of the Pacific of Cristal e-
College maintained its academic stature in the Top 10 in the 93 maritime schools in the Philippines.
Its Marine Engineering Department was in no. 8 and Marine Transportation Department in no.9
overall. This attests to the quality education that the College consistently pursues. Recently, the
College secured another cadetship program from Veritas Maritime Corporation and from Phoenix
Ship Management Company. Other scholarship programs, like Ce-C and Partners sponsored deck
and engine cadets for a three-year education, apprenticeship, and regular employment after
completing their education and training in the College. Cristal e- College has also a strong
"Placement Program" that has established an unenviable record anchored on its goal: "We educate
and train you, then we ensure placement for you ". It has lived up to this tenet since it was launched
in 2007.

At Cristal e- College we shape students’ visions to new heights. We do not only train and develop
them to become professionals, we also have a strong placement program to assist them get jobs.
Last year, we launched the International Practicum Program for HRM with Asian and European
hotels and inns abroad.
