Tears can ruin make-up bring conversation to a stop, and give you a runny nose. They leave
you embarrassed and without energy. Still crying is a fact of life and your tears are very useful. Even
when you’re not crying they make a film over the eye’s surface. This film contains a substance that
protects your eyes against infection.
When tears fall, they relieve stress; but we tend to fight them for all sorts of reasons.People
worry about showing their emotions, afraid that once they lose control they’ll never get it
back,”explains psychologist Dorothy Rowe. “As children we might have been punished for shedding
tears or expressing anger; as adults we still fear the consequences of showing emotions. The fact is, no
emotion lasts forever.” After we cry, the feelings that caused the tears often disappear.
Almost any emotion- good or bad, happy or sad- can bring on tears. Crying is an escape
mechanism for built-up emotions. Tears can help you when you feel you are ready to explode because
of very strong feelings. How many times you laughed until you cried? That is an example of how tears
release feelings. This may explain why men, who are usually afraid to cry suffer more heart attacks
than women. Women cry Men explode.
Sometimes people become very stressed and cry. Whatever emotion they are feeling- shock,
anger, fear or grief- is being held back.
Tears are sign of our ability to feel. If you find yourself near someone crying, deal with it. And
never be afraid to cry yourself.

He was my ice cream buddy. We usually spent our afternoon hanging out in an ice cream parlor
nearby. While enjoying our favorite flavors, we would talk about how our day went and laugh at our
own misadventures, misfortunes or mishaps. We would talk about everything and anything under the
setting sun or the pouring rain.
He was my best friend, the only boy I have ever been comfortable with. Though he belonged to
the popular crowd, he was still there to remind me that I was not alone and to make me laugh during
the times when I felt so low even though I was just another face in school. Most of the time, he would
crack jokes and do some crazy antics that would make me burst out in laughter until I had to wipe my
happy tears off my eyes. I considered him as my living diary because he listened quickly and patiently
while I poured out my lament over some pathetic things that happened in my life back then.
Why am I writing this? I write because I want to express what I feel right now. I am writing
this because an hour ago we just chatted (thanks to the advent of social networks), just like what we
have been doing lately, although we are thousands of miles apart.
No, I am not in love with him (although there were times I thought I was) but I do love him as a
friend. I regret the time when I turned down his invitation to join his despedida. And I’m sorry for
myself because I only got a chance to see him once – on the day before he left. It was then when I
realized how blessed I am to have him as a friend, - Gelyka Ruth R. Dumaraos

The people on earth face a major problem called global warming.Global warming occurs when
the average temperature in many places on earth rise. Environment will change as a result of this.
Farming areas may be too hot to raise crops. Many parts of the earth will dry up forming deserts.
Icebergs may melt causing the oceans to rise and flood many coastal areas. Although this may take
several years to happen, it is bound to happen.

We got energy from the sun in the form of heat. The extra heat should bounce from the earth
into space. This does not happen when the earth’s atmosphere is full of polluted gases. The extra heat
is trapped inside causing the average temperature to rise.

The extra heat trapped above the earth is called the greenhouse effect. If ever you had sat inside
a bus on a warm and sunny day with all windows closed, you have experienced the greenhouse effect.
The gasses that pollute the atmosphere and cause the greenhouse effect are greenhouse gases.

The greenhouse gases come from many sources. They come from fuel being burned in
industrial plants. Oil and gasoline used in motor vehicle give off greenhouse gases. Garbage burned in
your backyard has greenhouse gases. Even the wood used in cooking increases the greenhouse gases in
the atmosphere.

Trees reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Trees use the carbon dioxide,
one of the greenhouse gases in making their own food. They give off clean air, oxygen. Another way
to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases is to plant more trees.
