' T h e most convenient source of information on the
responsibilities of individual national archives
administrations is Archivum, which has devoted the following
volumes to the publication of archival legislation: 17
(Europe: Allemagne-Islande), 1971; 19 (Europe: Italie-
Yougoslavie), 1972; 20 (Afrique-Asie), 1972; 21 (Amérique-
Océanie), 1973; and 28 (Archival Legislation, 1970-1980),
1982. The introduction to volume 28 contains a summary of
recent trends in legislation governing archives and records
management and in the organizational placement of archives
administrations.
