Portrait of the Painter N.

Suzdaleva

Portrait
done by: Alexander V. Oreshnikov

Alexander V. Oreshnikov is a Russian artist who painted several artworks that

can be found in the former Soviet republics. It is uncertain as to why he painted
Suzdaleva, since there are no written description about this. However, we can see how
thorough Oreshnikov was on painting her portrait, with strokes of brush, blending of
colors, attention to detail, which were all in one place.
My Appropriation Art

This is my imitation on the painting that I have chosen. I know it is not exactly a
copycat, however, I made sure that I got even at least the proper formation, and the
overall style of the portrait. The materials that I used for this can be found mostly from
the house since I did not intend to spend money for it.
I guess I chose this art for its simplicity, and the message. It kind of answered the
question of “who paints the painter” since no one really grasps immediately what the
artist was trying to say. And how rare for us to identify a painter’s look when he/she
thinks of another canvas to give life to. The model looked a bit bothered, and I tried, as
hard as I can, to express it on my face. And I do not know if I did it well. On another
note, I think it was so right for Oreshnikov to portray a thinking human being that can be
seen from the overall expression on her face. And how veracious it seemed from an
outsider’s perspective. So, I hoped that I gave justice to the art.
