Shevchenko

Born March 9, 1814 at p. Moryntsi province of Kiev, now in

Cherkasy Oblast, died March 10, 1861 St. Petersburg - Ukrainian
poet, writer (playwright, novelist), artist (painter and engraver),
social activist, philosopher, politician, folklorist, ethnographer and
historian
Taras Shevchenko, the artist is one of the most honorable place
in the Ukrainian art. Shevchenko was one of the first artists who
paved new realistic direction, founder of critical realism in
Ukrainian art. It is well known that Shevchenko was one of the
founders and the first prominent master of etching in the
domestic arts. He himself had a great time by all known means of
graphic representation.
Eager to master the art of
painting, he turns to the
noble clerks, painters, which
basically are forced to serve
them. The artist's talent
manifested itself early, much
earlier than the talent of the
poet. If the first literary
attempts occurred in 1836-
1837 years, it is the earliest
picture that came to us and
known as "The bust of a
woman" or "Female head" is
dated by the author 1830rotsi

outstanding artist.
For themed landscape pictures Shevchenko 1843 - 1847

"Head of a Woman" - work
perfect. It is believed that there
is skillfully modeled by means
of light face, framed by beautiful
curls crimped strands. However,
in terms of distinctiveness
image of this product is second
to portrait P.V.Enhelharda.
"Portrait of an unknown," long
considered portraits of Ukrainian writer
Ye.P.Hrebinky, and only recently,
through a detailed study of this work, it
appears that it is a false attribution.
Unknown depicted in the portrait in
front, he sits on a chair and carefully
looking at viewer expressive, slightly
sad eyes. Before us is a smart, serious,
yet kind, sympathetic person. This is the
first portrait Shevchenko, which depicts
a man in a sitting posture. Later this
composition in his portrait of creativity
will come into circulation.
Left pencil date and the author's
signature, "1837. Shevchenko ". On
the back Jeremiah Azenshtok, on
the testimony of the former owners
of the portrait, pencil wrote in 1934:
"Catherine Abaza urozhd. Nakhimov
". Since then, a work known as the
portrait of Catherine Abaza. In
shevchenkoznavchiy literature
suggested that probably portrayed -
the daughter of the warden of the
Winter Palace MS Nakhimov, whose
name was not actually Catherine
and Elizabeth. Stored in the National
Museum of Taras Shevchenko in
Kiev.
