Fondazione Umberto Veronesi was founded in 2003 by a group of scientists and
intellectuals, led by Umberto Veronesi. Veronesi was the scientific director at the
National Cancer Institute of Milan from 1976 and 1994. He served as Italy’s Health
Minister from 2000 to 2001.
Paolo Veronesi, son of founder Umberto and himself a doctor and a scientist, has
been the President of Fondazione Veronesi since 2005.
