Q. Relate the Ten Knowledge Areas of Software Project Management with different Software
Development Life Cycle.

Software Development Models

SDLC) is a framework for describing the phases involved in

developing and maintaining information systems.

The common SDLC phases:

 Analysis
 Design
 Implementation
 Testing
 Support

Example of SDLC models

• Waterfall model
• Spiral model
• Incremental build model
• Prototyping model
• RAD model
• Agile software development
Agile Software Development Model
Knowledge area: Project Quality Management
SDLC model stage: Integration and testing

ensures that the project will satisfy the stated or implied needs for which it
was undertaken.
These two have somewhere common functionality between them, both do quality assurance. In
Agile model stage we make the software bug-free and compatible Meanwhile Project Quality
Management contains a document which include quality specs to maintain high quality
standards.

Knowledge area: Project Scope Management

SDLC model stage: Software Design
RELATION:

involves working with all appropriate stakeholders to define, gain written

agreement for, and manage all the work required to complete the project
successfully.
These two are related to each other. In Agile model stage all requirements are gathered into
single document. In Project Scope Management we make a scope document where a
detailedrement for final product is collected.

Knowledge area: Project Stakeholder Management

SDLC model stage: Review
RELATION:

focuses on identifying project stakeholders, understanding their needs and

expectations, and engaging them appropriately throughout the project.
These two have somewhere common functionality between them.
In Agile model stage we development team and stakeholder gather and review the software
Meanwhile Project Stakeholder Management include its stakeholder overall during project
execution and reviews are being collected by stakeholder.

Waterfall Software Development Model

Knowledge area: Project Cost Management
SDLC model stage: Requirement Gathering phase
RELATION:
 These two phases must decide the cost requirement of project.
 In Requirement Gather Phase we gather requirements in which cost is
included.

Knowledge area: Project Time Management

SDLC model stage: Requirement Gathering phase
RELATION:

includes estimating how long it will take to complete the work,

developing an acceptable project schedule given cost-effective use of
available resources, and ensuring timely completion of the project.
 These two phases must decide the time requirement of project.
 In Requirement Gather Phase we gather requirements in which time is
included.

Knowledge area: Project Integration Management

SDLC model stage: Integration and Test Phase
RELATION:
is an overarching function that coordinates the work of all other
knowledge areas. It affects and is affected by all of the other
knowledge areas
 The Project integration Management includes different steps, some are
related to integration and Test Phase.
 In integration and Test phase as we develop project modules, we test them
side by side and at the end we tie them up.

Knowledge area: Project Quality Management

SDLC model stage: Maintenance Phase
RELATION:

ensures that the project will satisfy the stated or implied needs for
which it was undertaken.
 In Project Quality Management we ensure that project is meeting the quality
standards, means that there are no error or bugs.
 In Maintenance Phase we also do the same thing as in Project Quality
Testing, keeping the project clean from bugs and errors.

Knowledge area: Project Human Resource Management

SDLC model stage: Requirement Gathering phase
RELATION:

is concerned with making effective use of the people involved with the
project.
 These two phases must decide the team requirement of project.
 In Requirement Gather Phase we gather requirements in which manpower is
included.

Spiral Software Development Model

Knowledge area: Project Cost Management
SDLC model stage: Planning Objectives or identify alternative solutions
RELATION:
These two are somewhere related to each other.
In Agile model stage all requirements are gathered into single document.
In project Cost management we finalize the project budget with the consent of stakeholder.

Knowledge area: Project Risk Management

SDLC model stage: Risk Analysis and Resolving
RELATION:
These two are somewhere related to each other.
In Risk management we plan that how risk will be itemized, categorized and prioritized.
Risk analysis is being done and then they are classified.
