Cargo Manifold Position 3.1 Conventional Construction | the longitudinal centre ofthe cargo manifold should be locoted atthe middle ofthe ships length, or as near os physically possible. The centre ofthe cargo manifold should not be more than 5 metres [LNG ships) or 4 metres (LPG ships) forworel |) raft ofthe mid-length ifthe arrangement of an LPG cartier’s cargo tanks do nct permit the above requirements to be met, the distance of the | longitudinal cenre of the cargo manifold should be placed as near as possible to the midship point. | 3.2 Spherical Construction LNG and LPG Carriers ‘Owing fo the nature of their construction, spherical tank vessels may not be able to comply with the recommendations in 3.1 For auch vessels, the distance of he longitudinal cenire of he cargo monifold should ahvays be placed as near as possible to the midship point. An excessive distance from the manifold to midships could lead to operational difficulties or incompatibility | ot some berths. 3.3. Manifold Arrangement | General configurations of two typical LPG manifold arrangements ore shown in Figures 1 and 2. Liquid connections [l) should be placed on either side of vapour connections (V] so that the configuration from forward to aft on each side of the ship is either LVVL or LVL. Notes: 1. In Japanese termincls for LPG, the arrangement VLLY is commonly found. 2. For vessels wth only ono liquid line (generally only found on LPG vessels of category A), the arrangement VIV is often found as this gives fll Hexblity for any terminal arrangement ron Longutral Cote \apourtine “Feed PSP ame as mah Fob termine frnietoel ciate opal (it meancenens aren ow Figure 1: ‘LVL’ Manifold Arrangement for LPG Carrier * Note: A nitrogen connection, if fited, may be located ot the manifold as shown or in way of the compressor house. Where practical, such flanges should be presented on the same fore and aft line. || For PG Carriers Al and A2, he minimum distance of presentation flanges inboard from the ship's side may be reduced but | in no case should be less than 2 metres. The oriontation of the presentation flange bolt holes shal be as per Appendix 2. The manifold area on all gas carriers should be clear of any obstructions that may interfere with the safe automatic release ‘oF hard arm, Safe access is to be provided for connecting and dlsconnecting arms/hoses. The manifold working platform should have @ non-skid surface. It should provide a-grating surface thot allows any liquid | to drain through fo the crip tray. The grating suport structure ond the manifold and drip ray structure should be designed with sufficient ocd bearing capacity fo take the loading from the loading arm jacks. (Nole: Gratings may be unable to toke the point load from jacks and means to distribute the load should be considered), Further information regarding spillage protection con be found in Section 6 || Flange faces should be checked before connection and confirmed to be free from damage that could prevent a proper sea.
