Pupusas are thick, handmade corn tortillas filled with delicious ingredients, creating a symphony

the process of making pupusas, and some exciting variations. Let's get started!

Ingredients:

 2 cups masa harina (corn flour)


 1 cups warm water
 Filling options: cheese (quesillo), Refried beans, Cooked and seasoned pork (chicharón),
Loroco with cheese

Ingredient Preparation:

 In a bowl, combine the masa harina and warm water. Mix until you have a smooth dough.
If it's too dry, add a bit more water; if it's too wet, add more masa harina.
 Prepare cheese, refried beans, cooked pork, and loroco with cheese as fillings.

Utensils:

 Mixing bowl
 Measuring cups and spoons
 Plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel
 Griddle or flat skillet

Dish Preparation:

• 1. Form a masa dough ball and flatten it.

• 2. Add chosen filling in the center.

• 3. Seal the filling and pat it until it circular

• 4. Cook pupusas on a griddle until golden brown.

Variations:

 Revueltas: A combination of cheese, beans, and pork filling.


 Ayote: Filled with squash blossom and cheese.
 Queso con Loroco: A fusion of cheese and loroco flower buds.
 - Espinacas: Sautéed spinach and cheese.
