RORY

- unknown

This is a story of a rabbit who disobeyed her mother.

On a sunny day, Mother Rabbit gave birth to a three cute baby rabbits. She
named them Robin, Ruby and Rory. She always wanted to have a family on her
own that is why, when they came she was so happy. Mother Rabbit watched her
babies grew hairs and started to play inside their house. Robin and Ruby are well
behaved and always listens to their mother. Unlike the other baby rabbits, Rory
keeps disobeying her mother and always gets in trouble. Mother Rabbit puts an
extra effort to keep here babies safe inside their house until they are ready to hunt
and find food for their own.

“Today, I will be living you here because I will find us food for dinner.
Don’t go outside while I am gone. Do you understand?”.
“Yes mother” said Robin and Ruby.
“But why? I want to come with you”, desperately Rory said.
“No Rory. It’s not your time yet”.

Mother Rabbit left the house and looked for food. While Mother Rabbit
was gone, the three baby rabbits played inside their house. It was raining outside
and Rory planned to step outside.

“Rory, what are you doing? Mother Rabbit said we are not allowed to go
outside”, Ruby warned Rory.
“Nah, don’t worry. I’ll be back before Mother Rabbit comes back home”
As Rory stepped outside, a lightning strike the ground near their house. She
was so terrified that she ran back to the house.

“Maybe next time” Rory said.

They continued playing and after awhile Mother Rabbit came. Mother
Rabbit placed the food she found on the table and she dried herself off and they
started eating. After they ate, Mother Rabbit said its time for bed and they
hurriedly hopped on their beds. Mother Rabbit picked a story and read it to them.
They fell asleep while listening to the story.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, the baby rabbits
aren't babies anymore. They turned into full grown rabbits. Mother Rabbit had
trained them to be independent but Rory stayed as she were. She keeps on
disobeying her mother while training and keeps getting into trouble. Rory wanted
to rush things and eager to go into the wild not knowing what danger awaits her.
Rory was so confused why Mother Rabbit doesn’t allow her to do things like her
mother used to do.
One day, while everyone was having their naps, she went quietly outside to
explore, she wanted to prove her mother wrong for not letting her go. She bravely
hopped into the woods and wander at the new things she saw.

“I’ll be back before they could notice I was gone”.

Rory did saw how beautiful it was to be free and enjoyed the things she
only imagined. She saw tall trees, flowers and encountered some animals but
weren't aware how dangerous it is for her roaming in the woods alone. She weren't
aware that there are animals that could harm her. While she was eating some grass
and carrots, a furious fox was eyeing at Rory, hiding behind the big rock just
waiting to attack. Rory had no knowledge of the danger was just so near.
“Hmm, this rabbit could be just right for dinner”, said Mr. Fox.

Rory realized it was getting dark, she planned to get back home but when
she looked around, she could find her way. She was lost.

“Oh no! I’m lost!”

“I have to get back home!”

She tried to hopped on the different paths but she couldn’t remember where
her house is. She was starting to get scared. An hour had past but she was still in
the middle of the woods. Mr. Fox got its perfect time to show himself to the rabbit.
He disguised himself as a very old fox.

“Oh poor rabbit, are you lost?”, Mr. Fox sounded a very old fox-like.
“Yes, I am Mr. Fox. Can you help me find my way home?”
“Oh sure dear. Can you remember where you last went so I can help you?”
“No, I can’t remember anything but my house is beautiful. There are plants
and flower outside and we live under a tree”.
“What is the name of your mother?”
“Mother rabbit’s name is Monica. She is very beautiful and caring. Do you
know her?”

While Mr. Fox is listening to Rory, he remembered an old friend who

helped him when he was in danger. His friend told him, he has a beautiful and
caring wife named Monica. He added that they will have babies soon that they will
name them Robin, Ruby and Rory. He immediately erased his plan to eat the
rabbit. He is the daughter of his old friend.
“Oh really, that seems familiar. When I find your home, I will ask you
something in return.”
“Yes! Yes! Yes! I will do anything you say, just bring me back to my home
Mr. Fox!”, desperately said Rory.

Mr. Fox and Rory shared a lot on the road. Rory started to feel tired and
lose hope of coming back home and said she regret not following her mother and
now, she is lost. Mr. Fox said she should follow her mother because she knows
what’s best for her.

“Yes, I should have obeyed Mother Rabbit. They might now worried about
me”.

They are now near at the house of Rory and she can now remember her way
home. She was very happy. Mr. Fox and Rory said their goodbye’s.

“I can remember now. That’s my house over there! Come Mr. Fox, I will
introduce you to Mother Rabbit. Come!”
“No, thank you. I will just watch you from here. I am happy you are finally
home. Please do remember what I have said to you. Always be good to your
mother”.
“Yes, I promise I will be good to Mother Rabbit! Good bye Mr. Fox and
thank you for bring me home safe.”
“You are welcome Rory, now go!”

Rory ran as fast as she can to her home. She can hear her mother and two
siblings calling out her name until they finally saw Rory running towards them.
They hugged each other. Mr. Fox goes back to her original form and went back
home.
“Where have you been? I’m worried sick!”
“I got lost Mother Rabbit, I am so sorry”.
“That’s fine now, at least you’re finally home”.

They hugged once again and went back inside. Rory told everything had
happened and also shared about Mr. Fox. Monica had courage to tell them about
what happened to their father.

“About your father”.

“Wait, we had a father?” Robin said in surprise.
“Yes, of course. He died when you are still in my tummy. I had no idea
what happened but he did not come back home. Some animals said he was eaten
by a fox, it was hard to believe because your father was the kindest rabbit I knew”.
“That is why I put so much effort on keeping you all safe because I don’t
want something will happen to my children. There are many predators outside that
might put you in danger. No matter who they are, no matter what they will tell
you.” Mother Rabbit added.

By then, Rory started to obey Mother Rabbit and lead her siblings during
their training. She was well-trained and started to go around their house to find
food. She also puts a sign on her way so that she will never be lost again and will
always find her way back home.
