Lab 1: Introduction to Cisco Packet Tracer

1. Open Cisco Packet Tracer simulator


2. Login using the given username and password
3. Explore the simulator

4. Create a Simple Network

- Replicate the diagram below


- Take note on the following:
o Device Type / Model
o Type of Cable

5. Add a router to the diagram (Router-PT)

6. The link lights are red. Need to change to Green. How?

- Make sure the port labels are visible first


- At the Menu Bar: Option > Preferences
- Tick at Always Show Port Labels in logical Workspace
- Close the preference window

7. Once you know the port number (interfaces), click at the Router and select the
interfaces used

- Fa = Fast Ethernet

8. Turn on the port status for all interfaces used at the Router (Fast Ethernet 0/0 and Fast
Ethernet 1/0). Once these are done, all the link lights will turn Green

9. Congratulations! You have successfully created your first network diagram using
Cisco Packet Tracer. Save the file in your Lab Activities folder.
