THE DUTTON JUNTOR ANIMAL BOOK AWARD FOR 1967

The Dutton Junior Animal Book Award was first announced in


1964, and the 1965 contest-winner was the widely acclaimed
GENTLE BEN by Walt N,lorey. The 1966 award }ias been given
to Robert Murphy's WILD CEESE CALLING. This interrational
literary prize, the largest in this field given by any publisher, is
offered annually by E, P. Dutton & Co. for a full-length work of
adult fiction or nonfiction relating to animals.

E. P. Dutton & Co. will guarantee a minimum of $3500.00 as an


advance against all earnings to the author of the prize-winning
manuscript.

The 1967 contest opened on January 1, 1966 and closes December


31, 1966. The winner will be announced as soon as possible after
the closing of the contest, and the award-winning book wiil be
published in the fall of 1967. The closing date must be considered
applicable to all contestants, and in fairness to everyone cannot
be extended for any inclividual no matter what the circumstances.

Mamrscripts must be typewritten, in Englisli, double-spaced, on


one side of a page only. Illustrations, whether photographs or

manuscripts can be as long or as short as the writer thinks neces-
sary, but they must be complete.
The word "animal" is used in the broadest possible sense. Among
living creatures only t{an and Plants are excluded.
