3. Knowing about the prophecy, did Harry change his plan of action? Explain
- When Harry was fighting Voldemort and the Death Eaters, he wasn’t aware of his prophecy yet,
and even the time he was being targeted by the ministry. He fought and carried everything on his
own. He even tried to avoid his friends, thinking he might only hurt them by letting them help
him. But when Voldemort fought Dumbledore, and Harry was also in the scene, he was caught by
Voldemort’s spell, which overrides Harry’s memories and thoughts. Voldemort uses Harry’s bad
memories of his friend and God Father dying because of helping him. Voldemort used this to
weaken Harry and make him lose his sanity. Unfortunately for him, Harry was able to realize
things about the actions he had been doing. He broke the spell of Voldemort and got his
consciousness back. And after this scene, Harry asks Dumbledore about his prophecy and why he
hid it. When Dumbledore explained why he kept Harry’s prophecy a secret from him and the
other people who didn’t tell Harry about his prophecy, Harry was able to understand
Dumbledore’s reasons. Dumbledore only wanted Harry to be happy and lessen the sufferings he
has been experiencing his whole life. When Harry realizes that he was approaching the things he
encounters wrongly and how he misinterpreted the sacrifices of his friend and family, he changes
his plan of action on how he will fight Voldemort since he said that he has what Voldemort
doesn’t have, the power to love and the relationship he has with his friends and family.
