Introduction

Scholars till now are unable to give one concrete definition of leadership but they tend to define the term in
different times associating with various fields.

Leadership is a dynamic relationship exhibiting complex patterns interaction among the leaders followers
and the organization (Tesfa ,2008)

No matter the domain in which a military service fights, leadership is the key to all successful military
efforts ( Nathan , 2015)

Leadership is essentially related to a person’s skills, abilities and degree of influence. In its broadest sense,
leadership can be defined as the ability to influence others towards the accomplishment of the some goals
(Robert, 1996)

Leadership is the essence of an organization whether it is a public sector or military service. The
productivity and work quality of the organization heavily depend on leadership of the organization, that is
why the leadership of an organization should be studied scientifically and be open to an improvement.

Transport infrastructure is a vital driver of a national economic development, facilitating the movement of
goods, services and people both nationally and internationally (Motto MacDonald ,University of Capa Town
,2017) , so it should be handled wisely under the umbrella of an effective leadership style.

Even though the branch of transport of the ministry of defense is rich in experience in the thirty years of
struggle and thirty two years of resilience but still the scientific recommendation to the leadership style is
still essential and applicable.

So, this research will study the existing leadership style in the transport branch and recommend measures to
enhance the existing leadership style in return that will improve the productivity and the work quality of the
subordinates.
