How does the Omni Mesh system works?

Jensen Omni Mesh is a WiFi mesh system, which is easy to setup and administer through the
Omni WiFi app. The system can easily be expanded with seveal nodes if greater coverage is
needed. Two Omni nodes cover up to 250m2. Mesh technology provides seamless
communication as you move around the house (applies to two or more nodes in the same
system).

Omni Little works for internet speeds up to 100 Mbps, while Omni works for speeds up to 300-400
Mbps. The speed you get depends on the type of WiFi client (PC, mobile phone, tablet, etc.),
location of Omni, distance between client and Omni as well as any interference.

The Omni mesh family

The Omni product family consist of four products which all have the same function and use the same
Omni WiFi app for configuration/administration. The differences lies in performance, number of device in the
package and coverage.

Omni Lite
Covers up to 250m2 and support internet speed up to 100Mbps (100Mbps WAN and LAN port)

Omni
Covers up to 550m2 and support internet speed up to 1000 Mbps(*) (1000Mbps WAN and LAN port)
* Internet LAN speed (Connected to the main Omni node) up to 1000Mbps.
* Internet WiFi speed up to 350-400Mbps (depending on client device perfromance and WiFi conditions)

Omni single pack

A single-pack of Omni that either can be used as a single Omni WiFi router, or as an extention to an existing
Omni mesh network.

Is it possible to cable to or between the Omni / Omni lite devices?

Yes, it is quite possible. The Omni devices communicate wirelessly, but it is also possible to
connect them with a network cable if you have the opportunity. You can connect all, or just for
example. between the two nodes in the network (see examples below).
The advantage of cabling is that you get an even better performance on the network
compared to only wireless.
Below are examples of how it is possible to use the Omni WiFi system

5
Omni placement

The Omni nodes use wireless network for internal communication, so the placement
of the Omni nodes are important for how good the performance will be.

We recommend to place the Omni in an open area. Try to think how the wireless signals
can travel as easy as possible between each other.

* Avoid to place Omni near TV, speakers etc.

* Keep Omni in an open area as possible.
* Avoid to «hide» it in shelfs, behind TV, etc.

The Omni nodes communicates between each other using wireless network, thus
decreasing the total speed the more Omni nodes you add to the system.

If the Omni nodes are wired (see page 5) the speed from that will give full speed.

There are two ways to add a new Omni node to an existing Omni system.

Procedure 1:

1. Reset the «new» Omni node (see page 22)

2. Open the Omni WIFi app and keep the app open.
After about 1-2 minutes you will be notified on screen that a new
device has been found.

QoS (depending on Omni model)

QoS (Quality of Service) prioritizes gaming

and web browsing. To use QoS, activate the
feature and enter the up/down speed of your
internet connection.

(The QoS function is not available on all Omni models)

Fast Roaming

Fast Roaming (802.11r) is a feature that makes

the process of transitioning connected devices
faster from one Omni to another Omni. This
feature is enabled by default and provides
seamless communication across the Omni
devices in your network. If you are experiencing
trouble with older decives connecting to Omni,
try turning Fast Roaming o, otherwise we
recommend that this feature is enabled.

Capacity Mode (depending on model)

Activate this feature when 30 clients or more

are conected simmultaneously to your Omni
WiFi network.

18
Smart Assistant

Some devices that only support 2.4GHz, for

example wireless printer, weather stations, etc.,
may have problems connecting to mesh
networks.The Smart Assistant feature connects
all devices connected to Omni for 30 minutes.

1. Activate Smart Assistant.

2. Follow the manual of the product to be
connected to set it up.

Port Forwarding

If you have devices/software in your Omni network that require opening ports to
work, you can easily access this via the port forwarding feature.

1. Press Port Forwarding u Add rule

2. Select the devices for which you want to

open ports.

3. Enter the Internal and External port number

to open
- Then select protocol (TCP&UDP, TCP or UDP)

Important! If your internet modem is set up

with router funtions, port forwarding will not
work on your Omni, since it is a firewall (NAT)
in the internet modem.
The solution is to contact your internet services
provider to get the modem put into Bridge mode.

19
UPnP

UPnP - Universal Plug and Play allows UPnP compatible devices in the network,
such as PS4, XBOX, smart TV, media players, PC, etc., to talk to each other.
UPnP allows, for example, the PS4/XBOX itself to open ports in the firewall for a
better gaming experience. It also shares media in the network (e.g., from mobile
phone to a Smart TV) easier.

DHCP Server

Omni uses 192.168.39.xxx as the default IP area.

If you want to change to another IP area, you can
do this by pressing Manual.
Enter the desired IP address range and press Save.

DNS

By default, Omni uses DNS addresses it receives

from the internet modem. If you want to use other
DNS addressees you can change this by
pressing Manual, enter the new DNS addresses
and press Save.

24
Frequently Asked Questions (page 1 of 2)

Omni will not connect to internet

In case Omni fails to connect to the internet, we recommend you check the following:
1. Make sure you have a working internet connection and that the cable from the modem is
connected to the blue Internet port on Omni.
2. Disconnect the power (∗) on the modem and wait 1 minute before reconnecting the power.
3. Wait a few minutes for the modem to connect to the internet.
4. Make sure you are connected to Omni’s WiFi network and check if the internet is working.

∗ If you have internet via fiber, there is normally no modem to turn on/o, and you must therefore call
the internet provider to ask them to realease the MAC address of your subscription. When this is
done you can check internet connection again.

Omni lights up red! What could be wrong?

If the LED light is red, it is either because it is located too far from another Omni device or it is not
connected properly. We recommend that you first try to move Omni closer to another Omni unit
and see if it helps.
If Omni still lights up red, try a reset as shown on page 23.
Open the Omni WiFi app and wait for the Omni device to be added.

Can I change the channel/frequency of Omni?

Omni automatically selects the best channel for 2.4GHz and 5GHz

How many Omni can I connect to?

It is possible to have up to 10 Omni units in one and same Omni system, but we recommend a
maximum of 6 units because the overall speed of the Omni system is reduced for each new Omni
connected.

What standard does Omni use?

Omni uses the standards of 802.11b, g and n for 2.4GHz, and of a, n and ac for 5GHz.

Is it possible to use the Omni Mesh devices without an app?

Yes, it is quite possible. Jensen Omni Mesh will be fully configured from factory.
To use the Omni Mesh without app, you only need to connect a network cable from your internet
modem to the blue Internet port on one of the Omni devices, and then connect to the power. Then
you can place out the remaining Omni devices and connect them to the power.
See page 5 for tips on locating Omni.

Is it possible to cable to each Omni device in the network?

Yes, it is quite possible. If you have the ability to cable to or between dierent Omni devices, this
will give you an even faster network than if you are running wireless.

See page 5 for more information.

25
Frequently Asked Questions (page 2 of 2)

Is it possible for more people to manage the Omni network?

By default, you will be able to install the Omni WiFi app on multiple phones/tablets you have
