In my humble opinion, the rule of law is the greatest invention mankind has

achieved since the dawn of civilization. At the fulcrum of the Law is the attorney.
My name is Felix Boateng, and it’ll be a privilege and the greatest honor of my life if
I’m granted the opportunity of studying Law at your prestigious Faculty. Becoming
an attorney has been my primary goal in life. As a young person, I’ve always being
intrigued about the law and the order it brings to society. My first encounter with
the law was in 2012, in the case of Akuffo Addo and others vs John Mahama and
another, an election petition. As a third-year student of Adisadel College at the
time, I keenly followed the case on television from opening statements to closing
arguments and finally the ruling of the court. What fascinated me the most about
the case was the resolve of the court in using judicial authority to calm a nation is
distress, since the case was the first of its kind in the nation’s history. Lawyers,
who’re officers and the court with arguments, help shape the fabric of society by
defending statues and causing for amendments to laws and/or upholding them.

My passion for the law has translated into a patriotic duty to understand the fabric
of society through the humanities, social science and if given the opportunity, the
law, which will equip me with the requisite knowledge to effect a positive change in
society through reforms and to protect and uphold the rule of law. As a student of
science throughout my academic life, having pursued a career as a mechanical
engineer, with a specialty in HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
Systems, I believe I have the academic ability to complete the L.L.B Programme and
subsequently proceed to the Ghana School of Law. As an HVAC projects engineer, I
solve problems on a daily basis. Among the many challenges I regularly face is
client satisfaction with regards to timely execution of projects whilst maintaining
optimum cost and income surplus. These skills which I have acquired within the
last three years, I believe can be transferred in the legal practice. The search of
truth and justice for my clients, will be a project I will treat with the utmost
professionalism and with the highest ethical standards associated with the legal
profession. If granted the opportunity to become a student at your esteemed
faculty, I will strive to be an epitome of what the faculty embodies, an excellent
attorney and a proud alumnus.
