Case Study 1: Virtual Classroom Implementation

A public high school in a rural area of Colombia wants to implement virtual classrooms to
enhance language teaching. The school has limited resources, including computers and internet
connectivity. Teachers are mostly accustomed to traditional teaching methods.

Questions for Analysis:

1. How would you assess the readiness of teachers to adopt virtual classrooms?
R// asking teachers to present a project in which they implement the new modalities and
learning strategies. In a specific time they have to show their own skills in the use of
different platforms and websites.
2. What challenges might the school face in terms of technology access and
integration?
R// the funds for education are not sufficient to cover needs belonging to the strict ones.
Probably, not all the brunches may have enough computers and tablets to integrate all
their populations
3. What strategies could the school use to train teachers to effectively use virtual
classrooms?
R// integrating new pedagogical strategist guided by professionals in this specific area of
teaching.
4. How can virtual classrooms enhance language learning for students in this
context?
R// learning from the context. Students will be able to identify different uses of language
in their different platforms. They will be updated in the new idioms and vocabulary that
21st people use.
5. Suggest ways to engage parents and the local community to support this
initiative.
R// Explaining to the parents that the use of technology could be really useful for the
learning process of their children, and it will have other uses apart from the conventional
use by kids: "waste time in video games".
